Is there an official Iridescent instrumental out there, somewhere? Because I got a hold of an instrumental that sounds like it's the official freaking instrumental. I don't know if this is bogus or if I got my hands on something really valuable or what. I also had no idea where to put this thread. If it's in the wrong place, some mod move it and spare me my shame. Am still newbie.
I watched that video and ruled that out as fake a while back because there's no lead when the rhythm guitar comes in. There's two guitars there in the actual song (or at least two different things playing), and I hear one. Also, you hear some cymbals (hi hat? I don't know that much about drums) there in the bridge along with the kick and the toms in the video. Those aren't in the original. Also, in the bridge, the last four bars of the guitar "solo" make a change from the repeated solo pattern on the guitar (there's no way to phrase that without making the sentence sound awkward), but it stays the same in that video. So I believe what you posted is not official, but if I'm wrong, please correct me.
There's probably an instrumental mix from some rhythm game or another, but no official or promo-released instrumental.
In that case, I personally have on idea where an "Iridescent" instrumental mix could have come from or if there's any official one at all. If it's fanmade, I can't see why not ...
The official instrumental for Iridescent IS out there, and has been for a while. The Youtube video posted earlier in this thread is fake, the Mega link (which should probably be deleted) sounds exactly the same as the file I've had for a while, the file size is even identical, so I'd assume it's the real one. It was uploaded on Youtube by someone saying something like "I'm sick of seeing all these crappy fanmade instrumentals, so here's the real thing." They were also offering instrumentals of the full A Thousand Suns album for trade (they wanted instrumentals by some other bands), but nothing else ever leaked as far as I'm aware. That Youtube upload has long-since been deleted, but I'm 100% confident that this is the real thing.
Wow that sounds amazing! Way better than the shitty fan mix I had with a mis-tempo'd beat in the bridge. This sounds perfect. No idea if it's an allowed track but thanks hahaha! Great stuff.
That instrumental sounds great but it's not official. The piano at the start of Iridescent has never been recreated properly, even the live version of the song doesn't have that same haunting atmosphere that the studio version has.
Well, goodbye to the link. That answers my question. Maybe because you like to be able to hear things that get drowned out by vocals on the record to get a better understanding of the song musically? Or you want to sample something that the vocals go over?
