So there's something seriously weird going on with my laptop.

It still connects to the internet. The internet is not the problem.

    Or maybe it is.

Basically, I can only browse to my college website (thank God for that) and LPA.

    That's it.

Anything else will load forever and eventually either a) time out or b) pull up a 404 error.

I've tried using different browsers to no avail. Right now I'm using Flock, tried Firefox, and even IE.

I've even gone to a different wireless network. It does the same thing at home and at school.

Anyone that can help would be greatly appreciated.

Does your browers say they are using a proxy instead of a direct connection? That could be the problem, the same thing happened to me once but I changed the setting and it worked again.

It's using a direct connection on all of my browsers.

That sucks man, I really don't know what your problem is then. Did you try using an ethernet cord instead?

Go to Network Connections --> Select Wireless Adapter, Properties --> Under "This Connection Uses the following items", select "Internet Protocol (at the bottom of the list) --> Properties --> Make sure "Obtain an IP Address Automatically" is selected.

If he wasn't getting an IP address, he wouldn't be able to go to ANY website. The internets don't work without an IP address

Well, yeah, no kidding. But that setting does not turn off your IP address, it determines it. The other option in that menu is to select "Use the following IP address". I just wanted to make sure that he did not have a preset IP/mask/gateway, and that he was getting an automatic one.

Would also be a good idea to set the DNS server to automatic.

If he had a manually assigned IP address, it would still be either all or nothing. He would either luck out and still have a valid IP (although hand assigned) and be able to get to any website; or he'd have an invalid hand assigned IP (outside the subnet or duplicate) or no IP at all and wouldn't be able to get to any website. Ditto for DNS, subnet mask or gateway.
