So, the other day, I came across this website - basically, someone made use of the transit APIs that the UK government made publicly available, and put it all together to make a real-time map of the trains going on. Here's a similar website but for a different system. Pretty awesome, methinks. Years ago, this was never possible, but now with where our technology and research has gotten us, it is. The internet is no longer just for static content, but it's now the ultimate information centre. No longer do you just type in the website to look at a static bus/train schedule and figure out the connections yourself (who knew the #7 also conveniently stops there and gets you there fast?), instead you now search for the next train or type in a time and you get a page with the exact route you have to take, without effort. So, what are some similar things you guys have seen that are really innovative, or what are your ideas that you haven't seen yet? I'm not talking about futuristic stuff, like robots, and whatnot, but stuff you (would) see on the Internet that is really innovative and makes our lives awesome?
