Yeah, but at least more of the album is getting into a previewable state. I also heard people say GATS sounded like a rough mix too, so *shrug*

Since he was in the studio, there were probably some songs available that weren't on the watermarked streams sent out to the press. Shame he didn't give the name of them though, would've been great to find out some more track names.

Yeah, though I can only assume (And it is an assumption, I'm aware) that the five tracks earlier meant that they were still working out future tracks and it's a good sign that they're previewing more because it likely means more of the album is in a near complete state.

Well we'd hope. After all the album is due in 59 days. That's not a lot of time .

"Mike wrote a bunch of demos—introverted, indie-sounding stuff inspired by what you hear on the radio these days,” said Delson. “But we threw them all away..."

I want to hear this demos as well

Holding Company and Hemispheres, from the descriptions, sound like the general direction Mike was looking for in those specific demos. We won't know until we hear them, obviously, but I'll take a shot and say they're probably better tossed aside, especially if Mike didn't agree with the music.

I'm pretty sure the "lengthy interludes" in this case are instrumental sections within the songs themselves, not segues in between songs.

This. The songs are likely structured similar to ATS in the sense that there are instrumental sections seguing the different "movements" in the song (see Blackout's transition from the bridge to the outro as a clear example of this).

This is an aspect of Linkin Park's writing/recording process which was introduced while they were making "Minutes To Midnight" with Rick Rubin.

    Journalists tend to overhype everything.

Well if the interludes are the segments within the songs it's all great!

Truth, otherwise there would be more than 12 tracks on the record.

Yeah obviously. You must be right..

I really like it though.. I always wanted to see LP to elaborate more in their songs, it would be a nice change to have more directions in one track.

Fuck yeah for musical interludes, that's what I've been wanting from the band since day 1.

I think they are pretty on par with that. Look at the bridge on GATS. It is different than the rest of the song. It's not "Lift me up, Let me go" different, but it's there.

Brad showing off? Yeah, still not buying it. Unless he took lessons before starting writing for the album, we already know the extent of his guitar playing skills.

Einzinger: Yeah dude, you're gonna have to actually know how to play a guitar to hang out with me.

Take this as you will, but when Mike spoke on Octane he said that back in the day Phoenix said Brad was the best guitarist he knew. Before the creation of this album, Mike pretty much bluntly told Brad that he didn't really see much evidence of that on past records (yeah he actually said that) and told Brad he wanted him to do something that would inspire the younger him to play guitar. And for what it's worth, GATS had some of the most 'interesting' guitar work we've heard from Brad in a while, and that was apparently one of the first songs they wrote. It set the tone for the rest of the record. So all signs point to this being Brad's breakout record. How much of a breakout that'll be? We'll see.

Whenever a fan quotes Brad as saying he "just doesn't like to show off" I roll my eyes.

Not necessarily rolling my eyes at the fans, but...what, is Brad 10 years old? "I don't want to show off" sounds like the kid who says "I let you win" when you beat them in a video game. Linkin Park songs in the past could have gained something by including more complex guitar work. By "not showing off" he was hindering the music.
