I've noticed that even though In The End is a good song, it seems kind of pasamistic
It's talking about that u try really hard in life, but it never seems to work. Most of the case, this is true, but don't u think they should have made it more optimistic? Write your opinions here.

Yeah, I guess, but I don't think I would like it better if it were optimistic. It might attract more teenies :argh: But it is a common circumstance in life, and LP mainly wants people to connect with their music in a way that they can relate to it...so IMO they did a pretty good job. I wouldn't say it leaves me feeling totally hopeless. Quite the contrary, actually. Just knowing I'm not the only one who feels it is all I need :)

In the end (no pun intended), it would sound better being as pessimistic as it is. The song isn't meant to be a happy song. It's about trying so hard to fix a relationship only to find out in the end it didn't even matter.

That exact situation has happened to me many times so I find the lyrics perfect. In fact, despite being called the "teenie song" I believe In The End just might have the best lyrics out of any song on Hybrid Theory.

"A Place For My Head" and "Forgotten" destroy "In The End" lyrically.

LP are not sellouts ;) .

As some optimistic songs try to make you forget about your problems, but ITE forces you to face them. What's better? It's up to you.

I don't think In The End tries to suck the life out of anyone by saying that no matter how hard you try, sometimes things don't work out the way you want them to. I think its lyrics are the way they are, like Snoo said, to connect with the listeners and show them that they aren't the only ones feeling disraught. In that way, it gives the listener hope that they can overcome whatever has happened to them to make them feel so hopeless sicne they know other people are experiencing those feelings but they can still go on with their lives. (And I don't think that is limited to In The End, but all of the songs, each in its own way.)

I think when it comes to ITE, most ppl tend to confuse pessimism with reality. Hey, the song's realistic...and a good one at that.

A lot of the songs that LP create is all about Anger or Sadness. I mean-take a look at it- every song they do is all about that so In The End is special in the sense that it took it from a different prospective in their video but ultimately if the fans like it, then thats all that matters!!

Actually, I think a case could be made for In The End being a somewhat optimistic song. It's a coming to terms with a situation that couldn't be changed - after fighting so hard to save something that you just can't, you realize you have to let it go before you can move on to something that's (hopefully) better. It's finding out that when the worst you could imagine actually happens, you can get through it somehow, and it's not as important as it seemed, it doesn't even matter. Just my opinion.

If you look at anything pessimistic in a different way it can be seen as optimistic. :mike:  :D :p
