Lately seems like a whole bunch of bands are doing live dvds and remix's. This to me seems like a money scheme. Incubus ,evanesence , and even LP did the mash up thing. Personally i think they shouldnt waste there time on this and just start working on there album instead. Giving them more time to produce quality work. Am i the only one whose kind of sick of these ? Also wanted to add one thing , why would you want to listen to a shitty live copy of them singing instead just load up your regular copy which sounds much better. I can understand the whole DVD watching them doing the concert but instead of buying the DVD go out and actually see the concert in person...
I want to comment on this, but I'd probably end up yelling at you, since everyone these days thinks remix & live albums are purely for money. Usually they release remix/live DVDs/CDs to hold off their fans inbetween an old album and a new one. Like Linkin Park. Meteora was released in 2003. Collision Course in 2004. The new CD will probably be released in late '05/early '06. That doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but yeah. I love live CD's. Since I can't go to a concert until I'm 18, it's the only way I can experience a live show.
Since I can't go to a concert until I'm 18, it's the only way I can experience a live show. <--- alright its cool i can understand that but still doesnt change my opinion on this . Also i forgot to say that instead of rushing to get some new stuff out for the fans they should at least make it really good , like .. collision course cough hahah just an opinion dont flame
I'm not trying to change your opinion. I don't think opinions should be changed unless necessary, and in your case it isn't, but it's not life or death (like supporting Dubya). Anywho... if you're tired of them releasing live shit and remix stuff, you'll have to get used to it, since it's always going to be released, no matter how anyone feels. I, for one, am tired of fucking Greatest Hits. Ugh. Wow, you put all your hits on a CD (which we all know the hits aren't usually the best songs they have), and then add one or two new songs. THAT's milking the franchise of a band. Remix and Live? Nah. Not in my opinion.
Remixes piss me off when they are bad. And I like live albums because I don't go to concerts; I agree, though, that listening to live songs is not as good as watching the DVD. And I agree with Casey. Greatest Hits so freaking suck.
Yeh the only time a greatest hit cd is appropriate is when an artist has retired, deceased, or is simply not making anymore music. Take Spears new greatest hits lol. Shes just selling out right there with that. Jay-z is also releasing a greatest hit thing next year but thats because hes career as a solo artist is over. I think LP will also release a greatest hits cd when their career is over.
Bands have been doing this for a long time but I think it's become a lot more commercialized these last couple of years.
Mash ups= Suck Remixes= Depends Live CDs= Fine Live DVDs= Awesome Greatest Hits: Fine (A good way to listen to a band's greatest songs if you wanted to be more familiar with the band. On the other hand, just a stupid collection of singles.)
I love live CD/DVD releases because, since I saw the (lets just use Evanescence as an example) Evanescence concert live, having a DVD/CD of the same set list is just a way for me to relive the moment. Same with Live in Texas (even though the DVD wasn't that great). Greatest Hits CDs, In my Opinion, are released just so fans could have all of the bands radio songs on one CD (which people can just burn things like that nowadays so that really doesn't make sense anymore). But I think that the greatest hits CD is moreso for newer fans of the band, that haven't really gotten into them yet.
Wow , i am really really surprised of how many people havnt been to concerts so they enjoy the experience thats neato. Also im not a big fan of the whole greatest hits things unless its like 10 years after and they release 3 extra UBER badass songs with it . Happy Thanksgiving~!
