I did search around to see if there was a similar thread discussing this...so if there is still a thread like this floating around...please accept my apologies and close or delete this.

Anyways...I have noticed alot of people have not been satisfied with LPs music lately (can't blame them), and it has always made me wonder why those people still stick around on the boards? I personally believe that it is because many of those people (although frustrated with what LP is releasing) still have hope in LP and are sticking around to see what LP will release for their official third album. So my question is...if you were LPs new producer ( or just anybody whos opinion they respected and took seriously), what would you have them do or change. ( this is not to blame Don Gilmore for anything...this is just so people can get out there frustrations and have a good talk about LPs music).

I welcome all peoples thoughts, but please go beyond "they need better lyrics and guitar solos."

I doubt anyones going to respond to this but it is worth a shot.

Edit- personally...I would have them put more spontaneity in there songs. One thing I loved about HTEP was how fun and fresh the song structure was. Specifically, in the song And One, the music would cut and the clicking of a guitar amp came out of nowhere, and then the music would start up again. Not the most original thing in music, but I thought it was a nice touch..Also in And One...Mikes rap solo at the end was really fresh and spontaneous aswell.....just something that made listening to the song till the very end worthwhile.

Just one of many things I would suggest to them.

Dammit....I just realized this relates to the sticky "new album" thread at the top......Im going to change this to if you could be LPs producer in general....but that may not matter still.

    sorry everyone.

I would honestly just let them do whatever the hell they want. And honestly, these guys do not need a producer. These guys were able to pull off Hybrid Theory EP without a producer and it was excellent. If these guys were just left without restrictions, I'm sure they would make an album that would go beyond the fans' expectations.

Don Gilmore has indeed restricted the complete creativity of the band. Even though he only meant well, Meteora turned out to be mediocre because of him.

I do have hope in their third album. I'm hoping that they do evolve as a band and I'm hoping that their music still sounds like Linkin Park but has a special twist in it. Linkin Park is an excellent band, but I have to say that people expect too much of them. I was just talking about this with Kaeton. You can't expect a band to completely change their style. These guys worked hard to come to their position today.

And a good example of a similar situation is Interpol. They have two albums and their music doesn't change as much. But it's excellent music and their style is how they are recognized. And I respect that.

The only problem I'm having is that the band hasn't released any new material to date, Collision Course and Chester's collaborations being exceptions; and the upcoming Fort Minor album as well. These guys should be able to come up with new material a bit quicker. As I've heard, My Chemical Romance is already coming with a new album. And it's only been a year or so.

And I know I'm going a bit too easy on Linkin Park, but I've been thinking about this a lot.

To make my point a little clearer, you just can't expect Linkin Park to go and change their music competely. I doubt that Brad will begin doing guitar solos, but I'm sure he will do something to make his performance a lot more interesting. I'm sure Fort Minor will show Mike's creativity in full, and if that project is a success, he'll step it up with Linkin Park on their upcoming third album. I'm sure the lyrics will be different.

Let's just wait and hope for the best, alright?

I'd tell them to get a rehearsal space, such as a house like Incubus and Lostprophets have done, and jam out material. I know the band has said in the past that they don't sit down and jam with each other but I think this technique would bring better, more unique songs to the table.

On top of that I would let them have as much freedom in the studio that they want. I think the album should be mixed in the same studio too because if a song doesn't turn out like they wanted it after they mixed it, they could add or remove parts easily.

    nice responses....

I hope I didnt make it sound like "what would you make LP do that sounds like nothing they would ever do."

its just I know alot of people are pissed off right now....and would like the oppurtunity to sit down with a member(s) of Lp and just talk music....what you like and dont like.....and what they think LP COULD do.

Just to clear something up, many people at LPA don't like Linkin Park, some used to but don't now, and some never have. Many people stay here because if you haven't noticed there are many forums on this message board, and only 4 of them pertain to Linkin Park. People like me, who have been here around 3 years, usually stay because they have made a number of friends, and this is a great community of people, we all have fun, not always talking about LP either.

I like this topic because I plan on becoming a music producer. And like a few others have said, I would give them full on, free creativity. Whatever they wanted to do, and if they wanted help or advice, I would give it to them.

I dont know man.....if lp got their shit together and put together a solid album that reminded people of why they liked Lp in the first place...I think it would be pretty hard for many of the people on here to ignore it.....but what do I know....I havnt been here that long...nor that readily. I think LP could really come back strong.....but they may not....and if they dont, I will probably join the people who USED to like LP.

I think even the most bitter ex lp fan could have a little hope in their potential...but I cant speak for anybody but myself...

Why the hell woudl you change what the are doing currently there is no need. The reason why we are hear is becuase we like Linkin Parks music style, if they chnaged there style it just wouldnt be linkin park. They dont like jam sessions... To me they are a very modern band Linkin Park in the way they create there music such a breaking it down and seeing what makes a song good and using pro tools in the way they do.

Instaed of going oh what a neat rift lets just base the sound around this who cares if the rest of the sound sounds shit...

LP are not liek this they make the whole song sound good, that proabably why the album are around 35 minutes long becuase they focus soem much on core sounds and don helps them to do this....

Don is a good producer and helps them to create good music... IMO he has helped them for the better..

I'd tell them they need to expand the lyrical boundaries as well as maintain experimentation on the musical side. I'd definately let them be creative but I'd advise them along the way.

I'd tell them to make an entire drum n' bass album just to shut up everyone who says they need to do something "original"

...and, if you're wondering what would be original about this album, it'd be that the drum n' bass would be played on a rhino's belly (for the drums) and a giant rubber band (for the bass).
