Note: This goes along with "The Carolina Sun". "I Wish She Would Have Told Me Sooner" And things are different now I can feel the world changing around me The trees don't grow as tall And it's not the same as when you found me I can't breathe without you The trees are too short to provide me air I don't want you to go And you leaving my life just isn't fair I'm a lover, not a liar No, this match is not on fire (And I won't burn you down tonight) I'm an artist and a poet And some day you'll finally know it (But I won't leave without a fight) And I'm a sinner, I'm no saint I don't know how much I can take (Before you walk towards the light) I'm a singer, I'm a screamer But tonight, I'm a believer You were there by my side Always giving me advice or laughing Sharing Cokes at the beach And up against me in the pit, clapping Our favorite bands on stage Playing their best songs to their hearts' content I take your hand in mine I begin to wonder where our time went I'm a lover, not a liar No, this match is not on fire (And I won't burn you down tonight) I'm an artist and a poet And some day you'll finally know it (But I won't leave without a fight) And I'm a sinner, I'm no saint I don't know how much I can take (Before you walk towards the light) I'm a singer, I'm a screamer But tonight, I'm a believer And so, you're leaving me tonight God says that your time here is through You grabbed my hand and held it tight I stared into your eyes so blue You finally told me as you cried You wished that I had only knew But then you fell away that night I just wish I had only knew I'm a lover, not a liar No, this match is not on fire (And I won't burn you down tonight) I'm an artist and a poet And some day you'll finally know it (But I won't leave without a fight) And I'm a sinner, I'm no saint I don't know how much I can take (Before you walk towards the light) I'm a singer, I'm a screamer But tonight, I'm a believer
So, like I said, I really, really dig the chorus. The whole song is very, very pretty, but - and I may be quite wrong - it feels a little bit forced.
It's good. I'd listen to it if/when you record it and it seems like it would benefit even further from being put to music.
I'm a couple days late, but thanks for the comments. I forgot I posted this. @ Mali — I've never really understood what "sounding forced" means, to be honest. *shrugs*
