"I Pretty Much Ripped Off Gym Class Heroes (So What)" I took cutie for a ride in my death cab All that remains was the things that I don't have I tried to survive the circa but the city and color Kept me tripping on bright eyes, so why even bother? I couldn't handle when she said to bury my dead So I left her Parkway Drive apartment hanging my head I couldn't figure why she had to be so cold to me So I said, "Drop dead, gorgeous," bowed out quietly Those explosions in the sky Would've kept me in her life But a four-letter lie Caused all my hope to die She spells "confusion" with a "K" But my heart, it still remains Poised at the starting line, ready to take back Sunday From the girl who meant everything, she could save the day But now it's Thursday, silent civilians walk Division St. below There's something corporate in her lies An alibi in disguise On this dark, skylit drive Beneath the neverending white lights I took a walk down to Midtown, said, "Hey, Mercedes, you seen Coheed? Cambria's been looking for him all night, you ain't even heard from Mendeed?" I clicked five blocks on a chariot built for Hannah Hoping that time wouldn't kill her before I got to Alesana I blessed the fall, blew a kiss to Jersey Before my actions reacted with something that meant more to me Ten years ago, I could've put a bullet in my valentine And it's been five Aprils since I went ahead and crossed the line The academy isn't going to call my name, I'm at an all-time low Feeling like an all-American reject, holding a mayday parade for show I wear armor in my sleep as the city burns around me Wandering down Amity Lane as the boys set fire and I'm calling Out for someone to bring me the horizon, a vertical horizon Laying on my side on this broken social street in a broken social scene with my eyes on The burning bridges in the distance These kids will forever be the sickest But there's a flaw in their plan One even Dillinger can't escape, man It's too far beneath the FM static Hey, it can be our new tragic Emotions playing out like never before, as Emanuel Escapes in a Cobra-class Starship with Samuel Flying over Fort Minor down by the edge of the water Wondering how many dudes brought their women to the slaughter But they escaped their fates, it was a morning to remember A night to forget, stuck inside iron maidens with the vendors And we stood at watched Troy fall right before our eyes Flip the killswitch, engage, 'cause today it all dies The list of bands/songs referenced: Death Cab for Cutie; All That Remains; Circa Survive; City and Colour; Bright Eyes; Bury Your Dead; Parkway Drive; Cold; Drop Dead, Gorgeous; Explosions in the Sky; Four Letter Lie; If Hope Dies; "Konstantine," Something Corporate; Still Remains; The Starting Line; Taking Back Sunday; Saves the Day; Thursday; Silent Civilian; "Division St.," Thursday; Something Corporate; A Skylit Drive; Neverending White Lights; Midtown; Hey Mercedes; Coheed and Cambria; Mendeed; The Click Five; The Chariot; Kill Hannah; Alesana; Bless the Fall; A Kiss for Jersey; Action Reaction; 10 Years; "10 Years Today," Bullet for My Valentine; Bullet for My Valentine; Across Five Aprils; The Academy Is...; All Time Low; The All-American Rejects; Mayday Parade; Armor for Sleep; As Cities Burn; Amity Lane; Boy Sets Fire; The Calling; Bring Me the Horizon; Vertical Horizon; Broken Social Scene; Burning Bridges; Forever the Sickest Kids; Flaw; The Dillinger Escape Plan; Far; Falls Beneath; FM Static; The New Tragic; Emanuel; Cobra Starship; Fort Minor; Edgewater; "Bring Your Daughter...to the Slaughter," Iron Maiden; Escape the Fate; "A Night to Remember, a Morning to Forget," A Thorn for Every Heart; A Day to Remember; Iron Maiden; The Fall of Troy; Killswitch Engage; It Dies Today
It's more like you ripped off the Dead Celebrity Status song In My Backyard. It was fun to read though, good job.
I'd never heard of them before but I checked them out and they're pretty good. But my song was built off the first line of "Taxi Driver" by Gym Class Heroes and they do pretty much the same thing I did. I'd always wanted to do something like that, and didn't have any inspiration for how to do it until I heard "Taxi Driver." But thanks for the comment.
OMFGZ WERES LINCOLN PARK ... I thought it was awesome. I thought nothing could beat the title of the poem, but you proved me wrong.
