Why is it that people today are acting like Jay-Z is now part of the band? They did a six track CD, what's the big deal? They keep on doing it live and stuff, it's like Jay-Z travels with Linkin Park now. Maybe it's just me, but the whole album made Linkin Park rap.
First of all, IMO Collision Course was a great mash-up. It always amazes me how they were able to combine two unlike songs to form something like this. The only reason that Linkin Park are with Jay-Z so often now is because they've probably not only established a friendship during the making of the album, but also, it was their latest release and the freshest thing on everyone's mind. Also, it was a way of bringing together people who like two different genres. The album was just a mash-up. Jay-Z isn't "part of the band" and Linkin Park have always been somewhat 'rap'. Although, I don't think music should be labelled anyway.
Linkin Park's origins were in rap. Listen to the Xero demos and the Hybrid Theory EP. You think that Jay-Z being with them is bad, there are rumour of Kanye West and LP collaborating in some way. Oh and hate to tell you, but Mike has a hip-hop album coming out!!!
I like rap, but I don't understand why Jay-Z is with Linkin Park in all the concerts lately. I don't even mind the album, but it's getting too-overated. I know LP used to be all rap, I have all the EP songs as well as some of the xero songs. I also can't wait for Fort Minor. I don't know why Linkin Park keeps collaberating with other bands, why can't they just make their own albums? It's like they don't even have their own songs anymore, it's just JZ/LP. The album happened over a Year and a half ago, it's getting old listening to the same 6 track album I keep hearing. When is LP going to come back and make their new album?
Well, LP isn't on tour and it just so happens that when LP is at a concert, so is Jay-Z. Just coincidence, really.
Whatever everyone else has said, Geki, is correct. Jay-Z and the members of Linkin Park have obviously established a friendship which is why they choose to perform Collision Course every time they are coincidentally playing at the same show. For example, Live 8. Collision Course was a good idea, even though the songs were just decent and could have been better. And as in.the.shadows said, it's the freshest thing on everyone's mind. The latest releases of Linkin Park and Jay-Z at all (Well, Jay-Z made an album with R. Kelly called, "Unfinished Business", and Mike has "The Rising Tied" coming out...). And your complaining about collaborations is a bunch of bullshit. Music wouldn't be what it is today without collaborating. Music is all about collaborations. A band is several collaborations in itself! Guitar collaborating with drums, drums with bass, bass with guitar, guitar with turntables, those with vocals, it's a bunch of minor collaborations! And different artist collaborations are what everyone wants to see! How different artists with different perspectives come together to make music, and how the ending result is. Linkin Park will eventually take their time and go to the studio to record their upcoming album, but have patience. "The Rising Tied" is coming out and you should be thankful that Mike actually went into making this album, because we've been waiting a long time for some hint of new material. To make the overall statement I've been trying to make, stop complaining! And I know Collision Course has been overplayed, but come on, all songs that the public finds good or decent are overplayed. So get used to it.
They only did four concerts with Jay Z though. So, you shouldn't really be complaining that Linkin Park plays to much with Jay Z.
it's just that now, if someone mentions Jay-Z, the first thing that comes to mind is Collision Course. the same with someone mentions LP. But i could agree that Collision Course could've been better. Big Pimpin'/Papercut could've used a bit more of the Papercut side, and Izzo/In The End would've been better with more elements from In The End. And also, I don't mind LP and Jay-Z in concert together - it's just that they only have six songs to play!
I like the cd, but im not sure if i want to a concert and see jayz there too. Same way for Jayz fans.
It's even getting worse, at Live 8 the crowd was cheering for Jay-Z to come on stage, people are getting too used to Jay-Z Linkin Park.
Because the fans knew that Jay-Z was here, and thus put two and two together. It's a collaboration that has really just connected fans from both genres. Big deal. the_chemist: Well, it wouldn't do to have all the music be just Jay-Z lyrics and LP instrumentals. That wouldn't be fair to everybody. Just because they have six songs on the album doesn't mean that that's ALL they can play. Case in point, look at Live 8. They did PSA, and I'm sure something with, say, Forgotten could be brought up with Jay.
what really annoys me,is when people say they like linkin park,it turns out they like numb/encore  i was so disapointed by CC and LP better redeem themselves with a heavy as shit album next time around
yea i agree, i still have faith in them bein a rock band, but i think them making that cd with jay-z stunk anyway, and i thought jay-z was retired
Dude... not a good thing. At least get to know a genre first. There's more to rap than all the gangsta shit that's on the radio.
