"I Can't Remember the Last Time I Had to Count to Ten" Come on I feel you in my veins Like ice, you're deep inside The shards of glass piercing Tearing me apart now And yet you came and went Gone like the wind, no sounds But, honey, I'm still here I've got my feet planted They're rooting themselves into the earth The sky's never looked so plastic I've got my feet planted They're rooting themselves into the earth And I've never felt so plastic This is not your war I hear you in my dreams This is not your escape I'll wash away the blame I'll leave this place for good And this is not your war The cycle ends here, babe And, honey, I'm still here I'm still here I'm…still…here I'm…still…here I'm…still…here The days I spent so lost Now just a memory This happy ending dies I found what I've wanted This is not your escape And this is not your war And, honey, I'm still here I've got my feet planted They're rooting themselves into the earth The sky's never looked so plastic (So plastic, so plastic) I've got my feet planted They're rooting themselves into the earth And I've never felt so plastic (So plastic, so plastic) So plastic So plastic This is not your war So plastic So plastic I'm still here And this is not your war
I can definitely imagine this with guitars, it would make an awesome song. I love the "I've got my feet planted" part. Will always has the best poem titles.
Thanks for the comments. It's actually the first song my band wrote. I wrote those lyrics to it last night. Hopefully I can tie the lyrics into the song well enough.
I think you'll be able to do it just fine. When I read it, I thought it would translate to song quite well.
I agree with everything Darcy said, the plastic and feet rooted parts give the song a kind of smooth feel IMO, excellent work.
We're probably going to have to re-work some of the lines to make them fit the song but I'm hoping it'll still have the same theme...even though I don't really know what the theme of the song is. We'll probably get to work on the song early this week, but I'm not sure when. It'll be posted on my band's MySpace in a video update some time, though.
