I'm kind of stunned at the audio quality because most of the stuff before 2000 sounded pretty crummy, meaning they were using pretty entry level equipment to record. Or at least that's my guess.
Since this one was done entirely in Mike's MPC, it was digital the whole way through the process and sounds a lot better than what they were able to do with "full-band" demos at the time. Same reason Coal and Pods sound so much cleaner than anything on the Xero tape. And yeah, the only real question regarding this song and So Far Away is which came first. I'd say about half of the music in Hurry is also present in So Far Away, including all of the guitar work.
Could I actually be the only one who thought that, after listening to it for the first time, that Mike/LP should hurry up and finish the demo? I really do think the demo is good enough to be a complete song; just extend the instrumentals a bit and add vocals, as well as a few new elements. It is interesting how Hurry takes a few samples and other elements from both Coal and So Far Away, which both preceded it (Coal-1997, So Far Away-1998, Hurry-1999, if I'm correct).
Sorry for bumping this thread after almost a year but I was watching the "frat party..:" DVD again today, and realized its on there!
