I wanted to take that TinyMixtapes review seriously....but when he mentioned Numb/What I've Done as tracks he wished the album would "hit as hard as", that's where I draw my "line in the sand". Those tracks are Linkin Park at their most commercial . Hell Mike even infamously dissed WID by saying "I'm not on some What I've Done shit" when discussing how different ATS was.
http://loudwire.com/linkin-park-the-hunting-party-album-review/ Never mind, I read about 4 negative reviews in a row and got the impression it was getting poor reviews. Upon checking this thread I realise it's doing pretty good.
I saw the TinyMixtapes review and didn't know whether or not to add it. It struck me as sort of amateurish, like the user reviews on Sputnik tend to be. Though it appears to actually be a legitimate music site, so I guess for the sake of consistency I'll add it.
"I would love for this album to be much better than it is, to be something that hits as hard as “Numb” or even Michael Bay-banger “What I’ve Done.”" Is this guy for fucking real? If this guy isn't joking that website just lost all of its credibility. Completely.
http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/reviews/compact_discs/linkin_park/the_hunting_party/index.html Ultimate Guitar gave it an 8/10. I can't believe it.
I don't think that guy thinks highly of nu-metal. "Nearly 14 years on, Hybrid Theory offers a perfect microcosm of nu-metal; a catchy but ultimately hollow mix of distorted guitars, punchy drums, screaming, spitting and, you know it, DJ skillz."
http://www.metacritic.com/music/the-hunting-party/linkin-park 7 reviews (3 positive, 3 mixed, 1 negative) so far on Metacritic.
No review is up, but AllMusic has a 3 1/2 star rating up; http://www.allmusic.com/artist/linkin-park-mn0000289599/discography That said when you actually click the album no stars appear, so it might be a glitch.
My own theory is that for any movie/album/game/etc., as more reviews come out, the score will get closer to 50.
