okay i kinda noticed that on the EP, mike's rapping and the general melodies seem to be alot more raw and deviated compared the LP which is obviously more structured and has more variation and emotion. It's especially noticeable in songs such as Part of Me and almost improvised rhyming in Step Up compared the the melodic In The End and Papercut. Any thoughts? Could this be possible due to change of record companies or production?
The EP was recorded without any record company. HT was recorded under Warner Bros. Records. I see a change in the albums because probably the company held LP back on some of their ideas. Plus on HT, they added effects to the voices so it sounds less raw than the EP cause the equipment wasn't as good. I think Mike's rapping had more meaning and emotion to the songs on the EP.
hey Zarah! i agree about the rapping - i love the raps that mike has put out on both albums. i love songs like part of me and step up and also tracks like forgotten and papercut i think the difference is with the way the band has recorded the tracks... without the record companies you get the EP. With these new opportunities arose with differernt way of recording (more professional) well there you go - hope that makes sence.
thanks for your comments! yeh i agree with Duffster and JJ that the more raw sound was probably due to the lack of equipment and not only improved facilities and a record company but also an evolution of new sound discovery and new ideas gave the lp its unique and varied sound. Also i think they must have found a softer side and in this way through Chester, expressed the lyrics more emotionally. Both albums are great and really show the progress of this band and how they still kept their originality throughout.
