i was wondering how ppl stream music for like xangas and myspace and all of that. like when ppl ask music requests and the person that does it has a link to the song. im just wondering how to host a song, cuz i want to get a link for petrified so i can put it on my xanga. like for an example when lpassociation had a link to dl "remember the name" and if u right click it and go to properties, and there would be a url for it.

Putting songs on a webspace (streaming or downloading) requires some basic essential knowledge of HTML. There may be ways around this with Myspace and Xanga. I believe these websites have their own third party applications that do the work for you.

i know xanga does it right there for you, all you need is the web address of the song and make sure it is in the right file format. i did it once with a song off of amazon.

    Exactly.

In order to stream music through your Xanga Journal, you go to "Look and Feel", and you scroll down to an area where it asks you for the URL to the song you'd like to stream. As palingenesis said, the song must be in a proper format in which Xanga can accept. There is also an account on Xanga by the name of Xanga_Music, which is basically a database of songs in which you can use for your Xanga. To retreive the links, you right click the song, go to Properties, and copy the link and paste it into the area in "Look and Feel" where the link to the song is supposed to go. It's pretty simple, as complicated as I made it sound.

For MySpace, I haven't tried it. The closest thing I have gotten to just streaming music is inserting a code for a music video. Usually, people who stream a music video on their MySpace profile receive it from a website which gives you codes to certain music videos. You'd have to ask someone else how to have music alone stream on your MySpace profile. It's definitely involved with some sort of code you insert somewhere while editing your profile.

And as for your request, Daishin, for "Petrified", at the moment it is not possible. It is streamed on a player, and you cannot simply right-click it and retreive a link. Fortunately, thanks to certain people on the LPA, they were able to retreive a download of the Mp3, Remember the Name, along with a link, for your own personal entertainment.

Otherwise, if you wanted to go that far just for one song, record it and make it into an Mp3. Host it on some sort of site and insert it on whichever journal or profile you so choose.
