How Popular Do You Think Linkin Park Is?

My country isn't too full of rock fans but when rock music is discussed, Linkin Park is always a reference point. They do a get a fair amount of radio play as well.

Even during the Hybrid Theory days, people who listened to heavy metal [blabbermouth users] would call Linkin Park 'pop music'. The hatedom has been there a long time.

 

I haven't heard LP on the radio in a year about so that isn't going to help get new fans.

 

The yogurt shop I work at plays Waiting for the End on a constant basis. Maybe 4-6 times in a 5 hr shift. Its one of maybe...three...good songs that we play. Used to love the song, going to go mad if I hear it again.

 

I dont know about other countries but Linkin Park is the most famous western band in my country...which is Pakistan
almost every other guy/girl has atleast heard 'In the End'
and btw every Linkin Park fan here loves "A thousand Suns"

 

In my area, you usually get all those annoying ''I only like their old stuff'' fans. It gets very frustrating but I deal with it. With that said, LP isn't very popular around my area, I think I am the only person to wear LP merch around here even.

 

what makes singles?? meaning that once the album is first out, are the songs ranked by popular vote? i'm really clueless about that. I've been thinking this question for a long time. I'm excited to know that process that also leads to making music videos. oh or is the decision of the singles be by the producers and or directors??

i think they arent as popular in my country as much as in the USA and all
which is a shame, for sure
but in overall they are and always been one of the best rock bands on earth, everyone knows that
even if they are not a fan, they will like at least 1 song because linkin park made history and like classic songs

I agree with this... People are kind of ignorant to ever classify Linkin Park music as pop, though. Mike laughed at someone once that called ATS pop when it was released, for example.

 

lol. None of my mates like LP. They all say its screamo and emo. I just laugh.

 

My old coworker tried to reference LP as a screamo band, and then gave Crawling as an example. The ignorance he resonates is amazing.

its thin line but theres a clear difference between LP and screamo. I have a friend whos into black metal so she gets it, She hates LP but she gets it lol.

 

I mean, you have to be pretty popular to sell out shows across the globe. So yeah. Linkin Park is definitely a lot more popular in countries other than America.

 

They are very popular i'll say according to my top 25 most played playlist on itunes.

I also met a girl once who said Linkin Park sounds like Boyband (More correctly Westlife)

 

I think its a mix. I know Waiting For The End was already chosen as the second single before ATS was released, And the end high production on In The End compared to the rest of HT seems to suggest that they knew it was gonna get the single treatment. I think the band have more control on what they release now compared to like 7/8 years ago, but thats just my thought, i could be wrong

People in my college still wear Linkin Park T-Shirts. But EVERYONE knows who they at least are and can name at least 1 or 2 songs. They may not have the fandom of previous years, but maintaining that level of Fame isn't easy, look at Crazy Town, only like 12 people remember who they are now LOL

 

I still listen to Crazy Town. Alot. wtf
