Just out of curiosity, how in the HELL does Chester Bennington do all his screaming, yelling and general hollering and carrying on? You'd think he'd run out of air or something, heh, maybe pop a vein or rupture his larynx. I personally think I've got a nice voice for SINGING, but screaming, no way. This guy makes it look easy and he also makes it sound good, and you can't say that for a lot of singers (no names!).
somewhere, i think in an interview on Frat Party, he says that he did it soooo long and soooo hard and stuff that he just got used to it, or something he said stuff about scar tissue... i think... its crazy that he can do that for so long and so hard sorry that isnt too specific, but i m positive that he said something about it on frat party
Smoking also is part of the reason supposedly. Wonderful concept there, you have to kill yourself to get cool sounding screams...
I formed a band recently called Seven Step Slaughter.I am the vocalist but I could not scream for that long.I tried it but my throat dried out.Chester is simply amazing
Chester has been a vocalist for upwards of something like 15 years. Practice and a little craziness helps
he said that 12 years of building up scar tissue has payed off. Well, yeah, Chester Bennington has a lot of talent. Not a lot of guys can scream as well as he can.
You mean a lot of craziness Anyway, Chester's screaming is the only screaming from any vocalist I can tolerate....no, actually like. From anyone else, its so friggin annoying. But how the heck does he not damage his voice?
Heh, I find that Maynard James Keenan (Tool, A Perfect Circle, Tapeworm) has a really good voice for singing and screaming/yelling/hollering just like CB. He's the only other singer whose screaming I can tolerate (beside Chester that is heh), and when he does scream he, too, makes it sound good.
really when i went to the concert in ATL for PR, i was thinking after all the screaming, and boy was there alot, his voice would be spent, but then he delivered an amazing performance of BTH! this man is a god when it comes to scream/singing, i can scream and sound alot like him, but i can only manige it for maybe 30 minutes and i cant do it anymore, plsu my voice isnt all that great for singing afterword anyway
i've got the secret you guys, well i hope so. My father says that if you have a very healthy lungs you can scream like that. But then again, your voice has to be good and you probably need a LOT of practice for it. I guess smoking really ruins the lungs, but like that guy said, it does make the voice cooler. This guy in my speech class smokes and he has a cool voice. almost makes me wanna smoke *kills the thought in mind*
You kinda look back at other vocalists who screams, Fred Durst (on the song "Faith", Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach, the lead singer of the Used, and maybe even Jonathan Davis (he puts a lot of bass in his screaming), and they all just sound like they dont scream a lot, what with the rigid and raspy tone that comes out of their throats. Chester has "evolved" his screaming to sound more music friendly. So when Chester does it throughout the album it is not annoying and irritating. His screaming is just another small piece of how these still remain popular.
i would absolutly love to do that with my voice! all my friends are like "eww..gross"...yeah. lol. i wouldn't even know where to start to make my voice do that over time. anyone know or got any tips?
