For me, living things did exactly what it was supposed to do. It was supposed to combine elements of all albums into one. I think it is a tribute to all other LP albums? I think we should appreciate that. I think it is kind of a gateway between the experimental, hard-rock phase into a completely new area. And they the grass is always greener on the other side
It's a great album. I think that having IMR, BID, and IBG on the same album is a bit redundant though. I feel they should've dropped either IBG or IMR and tried something a little different. Other than that, it's a great album. The track order should've been different, in my opinion, so that it could've flowed better. Something like this: 1) Lost in the Echo 2) In My Remains 3) Skin To Bone 4) Lies Greed Misery 5) Castle of Glass 6) I'll Be Gone 7) Victimized 8) Roads Untraveled 9) Burn It Down 10) Until It Breaks 11) Tinfoil/Powerless
My "love" for Living Things shrunk to a "like". Asides for "POWERLESS" and "ROADS UNTRAVELED", the album just feels like any other album now; I actually want the video version of "CASTLE OF GLASS" and not the album version. Nothing against LT at all, but I really actually miss the long wait in between albums. I guess that's another reason why I fell in love with ATS. x)
As many as possible on a regular basis until the next album comes out! Oh, wait - even when that time comes, it won't stop
An album of which the first half is superior to 90% of Linkin Park's cookie-cutter material and the second half could be thrown into A Thousand Suns quite easily. In other words, although it's potential was not completely reached. it's a purely enjoyable album to listen to - no matter the context. Somedays it's better than A Thousand Suns, somedays it's worse. Depends what I'm craving.
