Linkin Park fans may remember how LA-based artist Jensen Karp started up a podcast show called "Get Up On This" in 2011, with Mike Shinoda appearing as a guest on the very first episode. Over 200 episodes later, the LP lynchpin is being featured on the show once again. Jensen Karp has dusted off his rap stagename Hot Karl, picked up the mic and delivered a brand-new song with some of his friends called "Like Riding A Bike". Among them is Shinoda, who has not only brought his trademark Fort Minor-style production to the table (flipping a guitar part from the Janis Joplin cover of "Piece Of My Heart") but also penned a fresh, punchy 16 bars to open the track as well. This is the same track which Shinoda gave us a quick preview of via Snapchat last week. In addition to himself and Karp, the song also features verses by Jensen Karp's longtime friends Ali Abnormal and Intuition. Karp promises that it will be officially released for download on SoundCloud in less than a week, on June 7, coinciding with the release of his new memoir "Kanye West Owes Me $300: And Other True Stories from a White Rapper Who Almost Made It Big". Nonetheless, it was premiered at the very end of the latest episode of "Get Up On This", which you can check out here. Karp begins introducing it right after the 1-hour mark and the song starts playing at 1:00:48. *UPDATE JUNE 6* The official final version of the song has now been posted on its own to SoundCloud. This version has better quality and also changes the opening lyric from Mike. What do you think of "Like Riding A Bike"? Let us know on our message board! It's so repetitive.. but it's such a nice guitar riff I stay hooked till the end. Liking this very much. Funny lyrics too. Well crafted and not so heavy... fun song!
Another pointless collab i don t give a damn about ... Wow . Maybe i ll give it a listen ...waiting for the album ... [ back to listen to the new Lacuna Coil amazing record now ]
This is a fun little song. It's nothing special, but it didn't try to be. It accomplished what it wanted to.
Damn, Daniel? Oh no.... Mike's been consumed by outdated memes. Save the rest of the band before Joe starts making Doge images, or it'll be too late. Fun track, though. I'm glad it was just a fun little romp... Considering how hard he's been working in studio, Mike probably needed it.
He's in good company, though. Push dropped a new single the other day and Jay references it in his verse on that track. Very cleverly, I might add - especially compared to how Shinoda's used it here
Ok, that guitar is the most annoying thing I've ever heard. Verses aren't bad, I actually like Mike's verse a lot but that chorus is pretty bad
I can never take Mike's battle raps seriously, but I'm so glad he included a line like this. Makes the verse just a bit different from the generic "yeah look at me I'm so hard yo" sort of ones. Not something I'd listen to much but it's admittedly pretty well written IMO.
