Since they're almost the same melody, which do you think is better? I like ALITS a LOT. It reminds me of the song before the Catalyst
ALITS will probably enter my top 5 favorite LP song eventually. Time will tell, but I see it coming. GATS is great too, but not as much. So, ALITS. But btw, I think both songs don't sound similar at all. There is just like 2 identical guitar notes, but that's it ^^'
Guilty All the Same. Even if the fact that the riff is basically copied from Victimized wasn't so distracting I would still go with GATS. Brad's solo and Rakim's verse push it over the top.
Mikes singing verses are among the best music LP has ever done but Chester's chorus is absolute ass in ALITS. Why do LP always ruin something good like this? Rebellion has an out of place bridge that shouldn't of been there, and most of ALITS shouldn't of been there. So, Mike's singing verse are better than GATS but GATS is better than the rest of the song.
I actually find myself liking "Guilty All the Same" more than ever in the context of the album. However, "A Line in the Sand" wins, mainly because of its lyrics and the post-apocalyptic mood it sustains.
A Line In The Sand by far. Much like what The Catalyst did for A Thousand Suns, it feels like ALITS is the climax of the album where every theme and emotion throughout The Hunting Party comes together into one final epic song. For example, I listened to The Little Things Give You Away (favourite LP song ever) right after a full listen of The Hunting Party, and it honestly bored me to death in comparison. Sure, TLTGYA is a slow track that came in without any proper context after a 45-minute hurricane, but the fact that ALITS could leave a greater impact on me than TLTGYA speaks volumes to me. We'll see how it stands the test of time though.
