Guilt and Innocence (Weakness and power, despair and choice) I don’t want to be innocent, A being so pure and free, Who does not live life with guilt, And not burdened by sin and greed, Innocence is weakness, For the innocent do not know, The face of their attacker, When he decides to strike his blow. Innocence is vulnerability, Makes you weaker than flesh and blood, And leaves you unprepared, When darkness begins to flood. Guilt is the only true power, Only those who sin and don’t repent, Will gain power over the world, Be in control of life and death. For all power is evil, Created out of spite and hate, But made to wield for any purpose, Whether good or ill the fate. I’d rather be consumed, Let darkness run through my veins, Than live the life of an innocent, Be attacked by an enemy with no name. For the guilty are not attacked, From the outside but from within, They are eaten away from the inside, So much turmoil under their skin. I don’t want to live my life in innocence, Guilty I will always remain, For only those who have a cross to bear, Can wield it to bring pain. And in a world built on corruption, The innocent cannot survive, A world founded on power, Is a place where only evil may thrive. So I give myself to guilt, To evil, lust and sin, But in turn I loose something, That only an innocent can hold within. While the guilty have power, Their sins mould their life, Forge the path ahead of them, Lead them down a road of strife. But the innocent have the choice, To no follow the path to destruction, Yet they have no power to appose, Those who torment them with corruption. Therefore the paradox of life is complete, Although unjust and unfair, Choice and weakness, Or power and despair.
good work Kiddo, except repent and death don't exactly rhyme. Maybe it was done purposely though, not sure, but good anyway!!!
