Okay, for some reason it seems my graphics card has downgraded... Or something. I don't know. I recently got my PC checked out, and for some odd reason the technician in charge of my PC decided to replace a lot of my devices, which costed me more than I expected, and apparently my graphics card was changed as well. However, it seems that my graphics card was downgraded or my graphic card was replaced with a less productive one. I used to have a nVIDIA GeForce 4, and now I have an "Intel Extreme Graphics 2"... For some reason, this card seems to be less efficiant than my old one. Either this is going over my head, or this card really sucks. I believe my drivers are all updated, but I would like to know if I perhaps missed something and that this is a good card, or that I was right and this card is worse. In any event, could someone shed some light on this for me? I don't know what's going on, but I'm running into resolution problems in games especially, so I'd like to get this resolved. Thanks in advanced.
Well, I tried to make it specific to him that I just wanted the crashings to be checked out. Apparently, my motherboard was fried, so they changed it. But then, according to them, the motherboard they replaced meant (basically) the rest of my PC's utilities like my CD/DVD drives had to be replaced because they didn't work with that motherboard, which costed me $300+... I was pissed they did that because I didn't request it and now they removed my nVIDIA card, which I was told was a good card... And no, I didn't ask them to replace every thing. I simply asked them to check it out, and I assume by default, fix, but instead they basically gave it a "make over," if you will... And the result, it looks like they downgraded my computer because it seems less efficiant than it was before... Especially my graphics card. I assume they're telling the truth with compatability issues, but I'm not convinced that everything they replaced needed changing... So I began to test the things that were "replaced" and noticed the graphics card situation. Therefore I want to know if this was just me, or was this card worse than my first so I can add it to the list. Short answer: No, I didn't ask them to change the parts. I thought they'd give a report and then ask us if we wanted things changed, but apparently not. Therefore I am investigating everything, including my graphics card.
Okaay, I think you might want to have a nice talk with the guy. Motherboard's fried, okay, but components like a cd/dvd drive shouldn't need to be replaced usually. I think I can understand replacing the graphics card, but downgrading it? Ask for your original parts back. He can't just keep them like that, as they're your property.
Did they change your power supply, maybe it's insufficient due to the new components that need more electricity. My friend had a graphics card, brand new, ultra, mega... excellent, but he couldn't make it work because of the power supply, and do you have a new graphics card(which model)
