well......i said a while back that i was gettin a guitar, my dad got me a Ibanez IJX40 guitar with 15 watt amp, i like it, since im just a beginner i didn't expect to get a "high-powered guitar" for my first one, but he said that if i get better and stick to playing the guitar, that i show i realy like it, next year i may get a guitar that will last me a while..but until then i like my ibanez ^_^

**BTW i didnt know where to post this**

    ibanez guitars aren't that great.
i would have actually gotten a epiphone.
they're cheaper, plus with the right add ons and replacement parts, you can make it into a gibson.

That Ibanez is pretty sweet. :D

I've got a Fender strat. model, but not a real Fender. It's good enough for me, if I get better I'll buy a better guitar too.

I've heard Ibanez guitars aren't that great, but in our jazz band at school, our guitarist has one, and holy fuck does she ever sound amazing.

Although, Ibanez makes great basses. :)

Ibanez is underrated...however, Deans are the best fucking cheap guitars on the planet.

I reckon for a good, fairly cheap guitar, Fenders the way to go. I just bought myself a Fender Squire, $300, im only beginning, and its definately good enough for me. Not a note of difference between it and my mates $1200 Ibanez

To be honest... The amp has a bigger influence on the sound than the guitar.

on the actual sound, sure, but certain guitars and the way they're crafted suit different styles way better. I wouldn't want to be playing a semi-acoustic or even a Stratocaster when trying to thrash, as opposed to a Dean ML, which is crafted to shred easier.

and besides, the credibility of what you said can go out the window if you have a Floyd Rose.

True but you can still get different sounds out of one guitar by messing with the amp settings.

I understand that some guitars suit a certain type of music but that's hardly anything to do with the sound gained from it, more it's 'playability'.

EDIT: And out of curiousity, has anyone played a Rickenbacker before? If you have, what do you think of it? If not, I'm not really arsed what you think about 'em
