Papa Roach have begun pre-production on their next album after having moved into a house where they will be writing and finalising songs for the next few weeks. Currently, no title or producer have been announced for the effort and it has not been announced when they will start tracking the record. It will see a release through Geffen Records some time next year.
I hope this will be better than GAWM. I didn't like that album as much as Infest and LHT. Good news though.
Getting Away With Murder was quite possibly the biggest letdown of 2004. Here's to hoping that the next one won't suck.
my sentiments exactly.... 2006 is shaping up to be yet another great year for music: new trivium, i believe? new In Flames(which i got and is bad ass!), new Linkin Park, Chester solo projects, new P.O.D. and others
Oh yeah, baby. Then maybe after that we can go back to my apartment and get our freak on. Then burn Papa Roach records in the name of justice.
I think that you should at least give them credit for attempting to break away from all of the rapping that they used to have. At least they're trying to evolve even if they might not be doing the best job of it.
I suppose you're right Will. At least they're trying, I guess. Except at least to me, their "evolution" involved changing their sound to match that of every major "alternative" rock band nowadays.
Well, Infest had its moments, even when I listen to it now...Between Angels and Insects is really good...but I still maintain Lovehatetragedy is their best and sadly least successful effort to date. It has a fairly unique sound that retains some of their old rapping sounds but also some really good, creative songwriting that I found sadly lacking on GAWM...they abandoned a more creative approach in order to keep their major record deal it seems, so maybe they can afford to release a better record after the moderate success of GAWM.
Well, I don't think GAWM was an attemp to fit in with "every major alternative rock band" out there right now. Too many people just don't think out the big picture, do you honestly think that Papa Roach sat down together & said "I know, let's change this next record so that it sounds like every other rock band out there right now!". No. Influences are changing all the time and can affect the outcome of the record, if Papa Roach are listening to a lot of contemporary music at the time of writing and recording, the album will reflect that. They don't do it on purpose.
That's great, Papa Roach are a good band. What surprises me is that they haven't released any new radio singles since 'Take Me'.
Wow, I never noticed their last record didn't have rap-rock until you guys mentioned it. lol I've always like Papa Roach but I've never bought any of their albums. Maybe I'll get this new one if its what I'm into.
