As much as people might argue he's old, impractical 'cetra, the fact remains that he overthrew an entire nation entirely through non-voilence. So, I wanted to know your views on him- as a leader, a person, a revolutionary. The link for anyone whos interested in knowing more about him, you should check it out, there are so many interesting facts about him even I never knew. And the best part was that he wasnt a preacher, but more a teacher anda guide wh showed by example. And I would love to have a leader like him again- I'm sure the Iraq situation wants one, so does 9/11, so does Israel and Lebannon. And dont think he cant solve it- the british empire was mighty and huge and the people were not nicer then than they are now, and I really think his ideologies were much to be admired. So I wanted to know your thoughts on Gandhi and Gandhian philosophy- especially those not from India, as your opnion. Discuss.

Well, this is kind of random and uninteresting, but one of my best friends used a Ghandi quote for his senior yearbook bio. I think it was the most meaningful quote that anyone wrote in the whole damn thing.

well i hate him.....his fuckin non violence is the reason why it took India 150 years to gain independence from britain.Revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh worked much more effectively.he screwed up south asia by indirectly aiding the creation of pakistan...a unified india would have been much better

I don't think he contributed to making Pakistan, Jinnah and the Muslims were hell bent on their seperate muslim state, and there was so much communal voilence even during the indepndance that Gandhi or not, Pakistan would have still been formed. Plus after he came and started his techniques (round the 1910s) it took us a mere half century to gain independance as opposed to the 100 years it took from 1857, a voilent revolt.
Plus, his method was not killing people, soI'm happy (even though the British officials, they deseved the worst, like the Jalliawala Bagh official, forgot his name, brainfart). But the way he loved all and loved even muslims at a time hindus hated them and vice versa, is immortal.
