Exclusive Game Boy Next Details! | by Todd Mowatt | Nintendo of America isn’t waiting around for Sony Computer Entertainment to release its PSP portable gaming system later this year. Nintendo is putting their countermeasures in the water long before Sony Computer Entertainment’s PSP portable gaming system will have a chance to eat away at their market share in the form of the Game Boy Enhanced ®! At this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo or before Nintendo will be unveiling its own new portable gaming system the Game Boy Enhanced system that will play GameCube® and Game Boy Advance ®, Game Boy Color ® and Game Boy ® titles. Retailers and analysts we spoke with confirm that the Game Boy Enhanced is the system that has been a secret until now. The official size of the unit is unknown, but retailers who say they have seen the system suggest that it will be no bigger than the Sega Nomad system that was released in the mid 1990’s. Gamers might remember that system played Sega Genesis cartridges on a small color screen. The only detail that even they don’t know is at what price the system will be released at but they believe the system will cost between $129.99 and $199.99. Insiders suggest that Sony’s PSP system will be $199.99 but that has yet to be officially confirmed by Sony Computer Entertainment. When contacted earlier today Nintendo officials would not confirm or deny the existence of this portable GameCube and Game Boy Advance game player! Watch for more details on this and other happenings in the days, weeks and months ahead! Hot on the heels of the new dual Game Boy Advance, GameCube player entitled the Game Boy Enhanced. Nintendo announced today that they would be releasing another new gaming device this May at the Electronic Entertainment Expo codenamed the Nintendo DS. The Nintendo DS will have two separate game screens that you will be able to hold in the palm of your hand according to a Nintendo press release. From information provided by Nintendo gamers will be able to manage their game progress from two different perspectives. Nintendo went onto give an example of a soccer game where gamers can view the whole game on one screen while simultaneously focusing on an individual soccer player's tackle or goal on the other screen. Nintendo believes that players will no longer be forced to interrupt game play to shift perspective, such as moving from a wide shot to a close up, or alternating between a character's ongoing battle and a map of the environment. Nintendo DS makes it possible to perform the tasks in real time by simply glancing from one screen to the other. "We have developed Nintendo DS based upon a completely different concept from existing game devices in order to provide players with a unique entertainment experience for the 21st century," explains Satoru Iwata, Nintendo president. The Nintendo DS will come complete with two separate three-inch TFT LCD display panels, separate processors, and semiconductor memory of up to 1 Gigabit. It's scheduled to launch worldwide before the end of 2004.
This is promising, but still not enough information to be able to judge it's real worth... A nice fight between Sony and Nintendo ahead .
nintindo should win, all they have left is the portible game consols now, every thing else nintindo, like the GC is beat out by x-box and ps2

When they came out with Gameboy SP I thought they were idiots. It was just the same as Gameboy Advanced, there was no new features really. Except only about 2 bits over of better graphics maybe but that was it. I was dissapointed in the SP version.. If this one is worth buying. I'll give them some credit at least..

The GBSP has a rechargable battery and lighted screen . It's worth the, like, 40 bucks more than a regular GBA.
I don't think Microsoft is gonna try that... They have no experience in small entertainment consoles. Yes, you have to start with no experience on day but I think it's too late for them to catch up.
