Although the band never seems to do what we expect, I thought it would be fun for fans to discuss what off the wall genres or 180s they'd like the band to experiment with going forward. Granted, it's unlikely they'll do any of these...but where's the harm in having fun?

My pick: I would really like the band to experiment more with Reggae/Island music. Both the Reggae version of Burn It Down and 'Island Vibes' version of Heavy, show the band has a pretty fair grasp of that genre, and an album full of influences like that after One More Light would be wonderful.

I would like a more hip-hop turn or a modern rock swerve. #BackToDerRootz

Throw in some epic classical movements just for shits and giggles.

An album of acoustic renditions. There's plenty of material in the discography which would love an acoustic version, throw in two or three songs and you have something truly special for the fans.

I think it'd be a logical move after this album, too.

    Sold out Pop. :kappa:

I hope they would extend their sound more.
From reggae to punk on the same album, why not? :)

The acoustic versions of Crawling and Burn It Down the band did for that Facebook live stream were amazing...

Crawling, Pushing Me Away, Breaking the Habit, Numb, Ballad Medley, What I've Done, Burning In The Skies, Robot Boy, Burn It Down, Castle of Glass, Roads Untraveled, Skin to Bone, Powerless, Until It's Gone, Final Masquerade, a few songs from OML, a few new songs, a few instrumentals.

So much material to choose from. And those are just the easy picks. You could make something dope out of Papercut, In My Remains, I'll Be Gone, Mark the Graves and so on.

I'd really like to look back at a time period and say "One More Light era", when we got the album, the acoustic album, the instumentals, the live album and so on. If you say "Living Things era" that's just 12 tracks, 6 live performances and fuck it, on to the next one. There's no need to rush out material at this point.

What NIN is doing right now is a great example. Rereleasing a different take on the discography on vinyl. And fuck it, if an acoustic rendition of "The Becoming" exists, and is great, then so should "Papercut".

Deep southern country music mixed in with disco, a la Bee Gees.

This. Or maybe even a Reanimation 2.0 (no, Recharged does not count what-so-ever). And I'm not saying just remix OML songs, but they could bring in songs from other albums, remix them (or bring in others to help remix songs) make them fit onto one album with an overarching theme or style. It gives them opportunity to work with new artists, more features, different writers, and allows them to add things to past songs that they'd think help to enhance the song. And with it being a "remix" album, they wouldn't have to worry about commercial success too much. And its not too out there, theyve obviously shown interest in working with more people these last two albums. I think its certainly possible.

I would love an album that's just very stripped down. Piano, guitar, vocals.. et voila!

Musical 180s? Way to aim low. I'm hoping we get a Musical 900.

Which obviously means we need a ska album.

Strings. Strings. Strings. More Strings. Or even orchestral. Symphonic. Strings.

    MTM ain't enough

I've been secretly wishing that the guys actually worked with danny elfman on this one.. Highly unlikely but one can dream

After seeing a guy do a throat-singing cover of numb on Youtube I want them to do an album with just that.

Honestly, if the rest of One More Light sounds like the more electronic, studio version of Heavy, I could see the band releasing an "unplugged" deluxe edition of sorts later down the road. Maybe there they could add some classics.

Why do you not see Recharged as a Reanimation 2.0?

There was no real cohesiveness to it besides they were all electronic. And it was obvious the band did not work with the remixers much at all on certain songs. It doesn't even compare to Reanimation, especially for the effort that went into the two projects.

Honestly right now I just want a cover album or a series of cover EPs kind of like what Stone Sour did with their Burbank series of EPs.
