Don’t want to be a downer but there’s nothing special here for me with the track. It’s fine I guess. Still excited to hear the other tracks and new music in general from the band
SICK ASS NEW SONG! I'm so glad I avoided the leaks! That Mike bridge is INSANE and I love how the guitars on this track hit hard in a way some of the other songs on From Zero didn't. Being the helpless fan I am, I've already ordered that sweet ghostly orchid vinyl. I cannot wait for that to come in! As someone who was at the Dallas show, I really hope the Casualty performance on the deluxe edition is the Dallas performance. It being the first time it was performed, it would be so awesome. We are eating so good in this new era!
Excellent song! I like the faster sound they're going with on this one, and it plays to everyone's strengths. I can definitely see why Joe says it's the best song they've ever made (not sure I'd agree but damn if it isn't up there). Can't wait for the deluxe edition!
Just watched the video, I liked how Emily and Mike took turns with the guitar there in the clip, they have such good chemistry. I had no idea there was a Deluxe Edition coming, much less with three new songs! I went on to Spotify and the FZ presave suggestion popped up and when I look at the tracklist there they were .. The last two show as "Song 13" and "Song 14" so thanks for the heads up with the titles
I caved and had been listening to the leak of the song more or less non-stop barring voice chat for gaming and audiobooks. It's a great song for repeat listens. I'm not sure it ranks in that upper echelon of LP songs but it's fun and a year ago the dream of new Linkin Park was just that: a dream. Some notes on the song: I love the higher octave "ooo" vocalizations that are pretty low in the mix in the second pre-chorus. In the MV it looks like Mike and Em trade rhythm guitar duties. Wonder when/if we'll get a three guitar line-up for the song or at any point. They just cheekily threw a clip from Two-Faced's MV shoot and the lip movements seem to match. The plan for this song have definitely been in place for a while. Love the effects on Mike's vocals in the Bridge, and especially love the sampled Emily vocal melody shortly after. Thoughts on the Deluxe Edition: I think the bonus tracks and live tracks being on a second vinyl is a good idea but not my favorite. The beggar in me was hoping Mike would go extra and find a way to incorporate the bonus tracks into the "main loop" of the original tracklisting so that the loop stayed intact. But I am admittedly a beggar and shouldn't therefore be a chooser. From no hope for new LP to 15 new tracks in less than a year is such a 180 and I hope folks regardless of thoughts on the song are still grateful for what we have.
I'm glad I avoided the leaks and listened to Up From The Bottom during the live premiere with the sick music video, which is crazy to follow but entertaining to watch. Love the cameo of the Two Faced video appearing. Up From The Bottom is a really fun song - super catchy chorus, love Emily's deliver in the 2nd verse, the guitars sound punchy, really like the synths used in the intro and after the chorus and Mike's rap is amazing! Love the lyrics in that part of the song. The song flows really nicely and is so energetic throughout. Also, a fan of Joe's scratches, which are intertwined with Emily's vocals after Mike's rap, that sounded cool. Overall, a great track and nice to see it got their creative juices flowing with making the song in between tours after their official return. 2025 and we're still getting Linkin Park music, it's so strange to say that when a year ago the rumours were about to start up about the band looking for a potential singer and yet none of us knew what was really going on until it was confirmed. Still crazy to think how much has progressed since last September. We were treated to the lost demos during the Hybrid Theory and Meteora 20th anniversary boxsets and now to be getting new music from the band in not just 2024 but 2025 also - it's a fantastic feeling. I've put my pre-order in for the ghostly orchid vinyl and the O-card CD - one for me and one for my better half. Going back to listen to the song again now.
I'm really loving the urgency of this track and era. And the way Mike has experimented with different tones in his voice on From Zero. That bridge is filthy and probably his best rap of the album.
UFTB holds up against the more pop-leaning From Zero songs. I really liked the instrumental bridge section, makes me excited for live performances. Video was a little overhyped, I don't know if I would call it one of the best videos the band has ever done. "Two Faced" is still the best one of the cycle for me right now Looking forward to having three new songs and two new live recs
I could see how anyone in the band could feel so proud of this track. Very catchy. Mike's parts really do shine, too. And there's two more tracks for a deluxe FZ? That's almost an EP. Exciting stuff!
Thought the song was pretty mid until the bridge came and gave a new life to it, that scratching melody is so sick. Still wouldn't trade any of FZ's songs for this one. Betting on a ballad and a screaming song for the other two new songs.
Bangers over bangers over bangers. Song is fire. Seriously, it's simple but super fun, and the energy is infectious. As it's been said before, I love the urgency in this track. And that bridge, dang. Give me more of that synth/scratchy goodness! Really liked the video as wel!! The super random Two Faced easter egg was fun, and the passing of guitars in the bridge quite iconic!
Anybody else feels that the VM is like a first part of a longer one? Maybe Unshatter completes it…(mmppffff or not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) EDIT: I say this because of the cops running towards EM but we can't see a cause or consequence of it. I don't know if they were trying to do a The Pretender political thing here. I’ve been grooving to it for a week and it’s so so catchy. The final mix has a deeper bass and clearer voices than the one I heard, I find it super well executed. Also: Furious Mike on the rap delivery is *chef’s kiss*, with that final angry and glorious RUNNING!! (and then sampled Em and scratches)
Also glad we're getting "Unshatter", since it was one of the names thrown in the podcast. The way it's described, with the bridge being one of the pivotal moments in the process of rebuilding the band, makes me really look forward to it. And at least we won't have to wait years and see it become a long due holy grail
This very well could be recency bias taking over, but I think this might be my favorite single they’ve released since their comeback. It’s not a perfect song, it’s not even one of their best songs, but it is a perfect Linkin Park song. It has eveything they do well in full force. High energy, heavy guitars, great synth leads, one of Mike’s best rap sections in like 13 years, and it’s catchy as all hell. What else could you want from them? There was a time for a while where it felt like they weren’t capable of writing music like this again, so for them to still be doing it so well, and proving From Zero wasn’t just a fluke… I am very happy.
I'm not feeling it... there's some interesting stuff here and there (like the bridge and vocal effects), but overall it's just by-the-numbers song. In my FZ ranking, it would be second to last, just above Heavy Is The Crown.
