    THX @Qwuerty19!

I feel a poorly written review and laziness here, like

    What??

And also, it does not even mention Stained and the Glorious End of Good Things Go. Like, ok I listened to 2/3 of the album, and let's write whatever about it.

    ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯

I mean, I was afraid of the NME review, so I think they gave the album a rather fair treatment, compared to what could have been

Compact and intense, the band's first album since the death of Chester Bennington is a powerful tribute to their legacy.

For many music fans, this year marks an even bigger comeback: Linkin Park return after a seven-year break that followed co-frontman Chester Bennington's suicide in 2017. Their comeback single, The Emptiness Machine, reached fourth place in the UK charts in September, impressive for a nu-metal band whose lead singer died seven years ago.

From Zero opens with the hit The Emptiness Machine, which leans more towards alternative rock than their signature nu-metal. Lyrically, it expresses the band's feelings about critical reactions to their comeback, with a sharp observation from Mike Shinoda: ‘Your knives are sharpened with precision, flashing your favourite point of view. I know you're waiting in the distance, like you always do.’

Linkin Park's dramatic return includes not only new music but also new talent: the previously unknown Emily Armstrong joins them as a new singer. She manages to honour Bennington's iconic sound without imitating it. Whether she sings the sombre lyrics of Over Each Other or lets loose a 15-second scream in the explosive Heavy Is The Crown, Armstrong masters each song with ease and reinterprets the band's sound.

On From Zero, they carefully balance pop sensibilities with rougher rock elements. It is no coincidence that the album's most accessible moments are followed by its heaviest. This dynamic balance is most evident when the catchy Stained gives way to the sharp IGYEIH, a storm of raucous screams and sharp guitar riffs.

In the album's 32 minutes, Linkin Park manage to sound refreshing and true to their roots. From Zero is a powerful tribute to their legacy and a vibrant addition to their discography.

Due to the comeback exposure, I'm expecting a total of between 15- 20 critic reviews.

Probably need a bit more buffer to secure a long-lasting good critical reception - one or two harsher reviews seem unavoidable. But a good reception would be a welcome change from the usual mid/low ratings. Not a must of course, but a nice-to-have :)

Interesting... Praising Two Faced as a highlight while calling Casualty cringeworthy is certainly a take. Also can't see how they associate Overflow with OML...I mean maybe if you stretch your idea of that album a bit?

At least it's overall positive. They're getting a LOT of good press now, which is a great counterbalance to those first couple of weeks after September 5th.

Two more in German, I needed to translate them.

    https://www.stern.de/kultur/musik/l...o--macht-lust-auf-mehr--review--35221288.html

    This paragraph is gold:

71 seconds. Seventy-one seconds during which the world watches this stage in awe, as Mike Shinoda and his band begin the first verse of "The Emptiness Machine"—a single destined to become one of the most important of its time, one that could have marked either a triumphant return or turned into a comeback farce. T minus 30 seconds: She heads towards the stage, passing the towering barriers, the security guards focused only on Shinoda. Straight through the fog, heading for the stage planks, leaving behind all the doubts and fears, climbing the last three steps toward the flash of lights—nearly enough to reveal that Linkin Park was stepping onto this stage with only Shinoda on vocals. At second 72, a sudden hush falls over the crowd. Only when Shinoda points to Emily Armstrong at second 98 does everyone realize: history is indeed being made here.
