Alright, I really, really, really want an iPod. I've looked for the best prices all over the internet, but they are all out of anywhere close to my price range. I know I should get a job, but sadly, I'm only 15, so there aren't many job opportunities. Since I'm 15, if there were any jobs, I still wouldn't be able to get to them. I would simply get a paper route, but, they're aren't taking any new deliverers. And, lastly, I do cut neighbors' grass in the summer/spring/early fall, but, it's too late for any more grass growing now. So, I was looking around on the internet in programming class today, and I saw a few websites that offer "free" iPods. --> Free iPod.com --> eMarket Research.com Now, I've always been told that anything on the internet that offers free stuff is just either not true, or virus installing. I just wondered if anyone has ever tried one of these websites, or anything offering free things like these sites, and if you got what they promised you.
I've heard of sites like this, and i've heard these actually work. But if you enter your email in there, get ready for spam.
Every one of these free thingys always come with a catch to it. U'd have to sign up to atleast one of the sponsers mensioned in the site or buy something. I always see stupid stuff like that in pop up pages ..
You dont have to spend any money. You get you and your friends to sign up for some offer, like a free trial of AOL and cancel it before the month is over so you dont get charged. Its still a pain in the ass and you pretty much sell your soul to the company to get an iPod
It's very risky business. A news report was done on the free ipod thing and said that though it works, you had to sign up for AOL Broadband and stay a member for at least two years. That's almost $1000. I can't validate that, since you can't always trust news, but it doesn't seem realistic to give away ipods. Unless you were going to that Colorado college. Plus, I don't believe they ever claim the ipods are new models or even new.
The hosts from The Screensavers actually took part in seeing if they would receive a iPod. They reported saying that Alex received a iPod and Kevin received a gift certificate. Alex also reported that his girlfriend received one as well, just to see if the freeipod people were trying to trick by automatically giving free items to the hosts.
My friend Geoff participated in this and got his iPod this week. It was one of the 20gb ones, with the click wheel from the iPod mini, so it's fairly new. He's already filled it up, but I can confirm the offer is valid. There are actually some good deals in there (so I've heard) so I'm up for it. Too bad I already have a few iPods... maybe when I fill them all up...
I'm 15 and have a job...that's not really the point but oh well. I bet there is a catch to it but if somebody confirmed that it's 'real' then I guess it is...
It's real. It's been on the news before in my area, and people have actually done it and it works. My friend Rob did it to get his PS2, so I can vouch that these things are real. But only if they say something about that eMarketResearch web site.
I can also vouch that not all of these things are a hoax. Two of my friends got iPod's for free (or a small fee) from these types of things. This was a while back when the newest 40GB version wasn't out yet.
So if you do sign up for the freeiPod thing, how do you know the person might not be using the information for malicious purposes?
There is always a catch. Maybe for the i pod the catch is insignificant or the catch is to sponser something or the music industry. He has all of your information who knows what he will do with it or maybe he won't do anything but there is always a catch. Or maybe I'm just paranoid
