I've come to the conclusion that they're extremely unreliable. In case you don't know, forum indicators are this for example. Half of the time, they're not right. One example is the tech forum, the icon rarely shows new. Matt had a new post in there, and it didn't show as new to me, even though I never read that post. And the Writer's Cove is also rarely "new" to me either, even though I never look in there. Like right now, it's showing no unread posts. This is starting to annoy me for some reason. Could something be done about it? Like maybe telling Jelsoft could work.. Thanks.
No. Because I often leave and it will leave that icon up for the next time that I come by even though there aren't any new posts. But I never have that problem with it displaying the icon when there aren't posts or not displaying the icon when there are posts. I don't know what to tell you, tomi. Tough it out, or scout the forums. lol.
If you look at the bottom of the forum index, that is what they are meant to be. New and old posts, not unread.
New = You check the posts on the forums, go out and have a life, come back hours later to see new posts from the time you were out having that life, thus they are new posts. It's probably vB's little way of saying, "go outside more!"
