Yeah, texting while you are driving is one thing, but texting while walking around is a totally different matter. What interests me the most about this is how many cities may follow suit with how "successful" this law seems to be.
wow, this is just plain stupid. In my experience, there are many other worse distractions while walking then texting. I can text and walk all the time easily with no problem. This is just stupid. What's next, are they going to ban calling people while walking? why not ban bicycles because theres an easier chance something happens to someone on bike than texting. This is becoming absurd.
So many problems to solve, and they write a law to PREVENT COLLISIONS WALKING? Sounds so MUCH STUPID.
I could see if they were going to fine people who were walking where there weren't any sidewalks, as that could be potentially hazardous to drivers, especially if the person walking wanders into the middle of the road on accident. But to outright fine other people because they're walking and texting? That's absolutely ridiculous. I agree with Tim; they should just fine attractive girls, because, in my opinion, that's even more distracting. I actually ran into a wall at work the other day because I was gawking at a girl.
this is magnificently absurd. Almost as absurd as the law in Atlanta that says you can't tie your giraffe to a lamp post
NJ - 1, SOPA - 0. We have a winner. Jokes aside, I want to point out that "bumping into people while texting and walking" is 101% subjective to the one who is texting. Just to give you an example; Just earlier, when I was leaving school from a class on the third storey, I was playing my Android game defender II stage 100+ while walking, going down stairs, avoiding cars, boarding the bus and standing in the train for 1 hour. And for those of you who play Defender II, stages above 100 is fucking insane. I bumped into no one, didn't fall, didn't get honked by cars and no one rushed me.
I don't see how this is a major issue. It happens when people are just not even doing anything, but walking...because they are just lost in la la land. I would hate it if it ever comes to Georgia. I wouldn't be walking again, because my iPhone is my music player in the park lol. I wonder if NJ is issuing more tickets for this rather then issuing for people who are texting while driving. Walking into eachother with a bump on the head or bruise here in there is nothing compared to being thrown out of your front windshield, or a totaled car.
