At risk of sounding too cliche I'll refrain from saying it seems forgotten has been, well forgotten about. But does anyone know why they deviated from this song so early? It doesn't seem difficult to play live and brings the energy every time. I would much rather see it on the setlist than Don't Stay or even A Place for My Head. I think leaving this song off is a mistake by these guys. This song captures basically everything Hybrid Theory encompassed.
It was played a lot at first, so it's not like its an "Easier to run" type song where it was done 0 justice at all. With each album some songs have to inevitable be cut. The songs that were released as singles obviously make the cut for a setlist, and if you added forgotten then you wouldnt have that much diversity in the setlisit because your just playing your high energy HT songs. Although i wouldn't mind if they threw it in the setlist from time to time because it HAS been a while since they played it, so you make a good point. As for your suggestion to play it over Don't Stay and whatnot, they have to evenly pick songs from HT and Meteora, so if they picked forgotten over don't stay it would disrupt the even distribution of songs that their trying to perform live off each album. Clearly there some songs on HT better then meteora, but if you pick more songs on one album then another then your implying the record wasn't good enough and you don't have confidence in the song, and I doubt LP wants to do that. On top of that they;ve played that song for years before they released a followuo album, so as chester said " you like some of your kids more then others,", which explains why they probably aren;t playing forgotton anymore...they got bored of it pretty much lol
I don't really care about Forgotton. I think it's pretty weak live. Both the guitar and Chester's voice isn't at it highest like in for insance APFMH.
Well, Forgotten and A Place for My Head are the 2 oldest songs that were ever regulars in LP's live sets, both date back to the Xero days. By the time they finished the Hybrid Theory cycle in 2002, they'd already been playing both songs regularly for about 5 years, and I'm guessing since APFMH was the bigger fan favorite, they dropped Forgotten. I think they'll bring it back at some point, it seems like once they get about a year into a touring cycle they start digging up older material. They did it with My December on the Meteora World Tour, and Step Up (albeit in a medley) in mid-2004. Now they've brought back My December once again, along with APFMH, plus they randomly dusted off Reading My Eyes for their trip to Japan in '06, so I wouldn't be surprsied if they revisit Forgotten and other old songs eventually.
