And we lost to Slovenia. Honestly, I can't believe we didn't pay attention to the simple rule of if you're not scoring, they're scoring against you.
To be honest though I think the away goals rule is ridiculous. We're not seeing one of the best nations in europe because of it. I think if it's a draw on aggregate after 90mins (and this would apply for all competitions) it should go to extra time and if it's still locked then penalties. This would more than likely encourage teams to come out and play as apposed to just sit back on an advantage. People really are blowing last night's ireland/france match out of proportion. Yes, Henry used his hand, but if it was the other way around no one would care whatsoever. At least Thierry admitted to it.
Nah, Hiddink had to pay for eliminating the Netherlands in 2008. It's not just Henry's hand, its the behaviour of the whole team (except Llioris who was amazing). France should have lost two or three nil. All the media is talking about it and all supporters are saying it is pure theft. And seeing the French federation celebrating and not even being humble is just disgusting. At least Irish people are humble.
The thing is though, I've seen Duff dive and Keane does pretty much anything to win the big matches but no one cares about that simply because those matches were nowhere near as important as last night. If anything I think Nicolas Anelka should be getting more stick seeing how he blatantly dived to try and win a penalty in the game. Obviously I'm sticking up for Henry because he's an arsenal legend but I really wish the irish would actually see the bigger picture that over the two legs they didn't deserve to go through even if they played a good game last night.
Hahah hell no, if the Irish did it france would be complaining to everyone in every way, thats just the french I really hope for a rematch, this is just another sign that 'the almighty referee' is loosing terrain, IMO the best option is how they do it in hockey, a team can ask for a video ref decision if they dont trust the referee's (they have a limited amount of times they can ask that, 3 per game or something)
Honestly though, if it was any other way the French got that goal i wouldn't complain. But judging by the way they got it and how decisive the result turned out to be, the Irish really deserver a rematch. Could probably pave the way for more accurate refreeing and those video replays we keep asking for.
The French "Big Four" isn't doing so well : Grenoble 1 - 1 Lyon. Bordeaux 0 - 1 Valenciennes (Bordeaux lost its first game at home since 07/10/07 , 39 games). Marseille 1 - 0 Paris (very weak game).
If we don't beat Chelsea next week they've got the title I reckon. We need to beat them and win our game in hand just to be within reach of them now...a real wasted oppertunity yesterday.
The race is between man u and chelsea now im afraid, Liverpool and Arsenal can't mount serious challenges this season.
If we beat chelsea we're still in with a shout but anything but a win and I'll have to agree with you.
yeah but looking at the general consistency of Arsenal's and Liverpool's play it doesnt look good enough to win the Premiership. Arsenal needs a real captain, Fabresgas just isn't a leader.
Van Persie out for up to 5 months. And there I was thinking we actually had a chance of winning something this year.
yeah i know the feeling, unless Eduardo somehow smashes the Tree of Form i doubt anything can happen this year
Lille 4 - 0 Valenciennes That should launch our season. And that proves that were still the best club of the region ^^
Feyenoord 2-0 - The Hague But what a bad, bad game.... Man City tied again! hahha, money cant make a winning team
http://www.eredivisie.nl/statistieken Interesting season so far. And Ajax's goal average is just impressive (50/13/+37)!
