Wow. This is an amazing CD. The Pretender was great but then I didn't think the rest of the CD would be that good. Let It Die is definitely going to be one of my most favorite songs ever. Sweeeeet stuff. What do you all think?
It's my favorite album of the year for a reason; it's awesome! Straight-up rock done to perfection! I love the build-up in songs like "Let It Die" and "But Honestly". They have the most epic climaxes.
Hell yes. What makes it even better is that they recorded this CD in a month. The Pretender was done at the end and written and finished in 1 hour. Wow! "We had 30 or 40 song ideas when'we started recording. When Gil [Norton, producer] came over to America, we sat at a table and listened to demos for a week and half and just picked the most powerful, dramatic songs. We wanted the stops to be pin-drop silent before exploding. If we had a beautiful melody, we'd throw a fucking string quartet in there. So we did everything we could to really magnify all those elements and that was fun. Usually you.have a few parameters you're afraid to pass but, this time, there was no fear of going too far." Hot shit. http://www.fooarchive.com/gpb/kalbumguide07.htm
Two songs into the album and I'm considering it one of the best albums of the year. Better than Disc 1 of In Your Honor for sure, Dave Grohl is God.
This CD was a surprise hit! I didn't care for IYH as much as older FF albums but this album is near flawless and has some really great songs. Best part is, it comes out the day Halo 3 comes out! This one will be on repeat for a while...
Obviously one of the best albums of the year, it's a masterpiece. I really like the way Dave explains Come Alive it's the acoustic part and the electric part of IYH all in one, I was really hoping for that to happen in this record. At first I though they'd over do the whole dramatic slow songs and maybe they kind of did, but I love the album. After only one listen.
That's the great thing about it. I didn't think their last CD was that great. Then I heard about this one and heard that it was gonna be a massive acoustic/rock CD so I was like MEH. The Pretender was great, but then on the first listen I instantly fell in love with this one. The way the band mashes the acoustic and the rock is MEAN. Songs like Last Summer and Let It Die are so amazing. This is definitely the CD of the year. I mean c'mon, it's almost impossible to get me to fall in love with something the first time I listen to it, and this did it easily. The biggest surprise album I've ever heard. I had no idea it would even be half this good. Holy shit <3
Right now the ones that I'm loving the most (which will probably change often, this album has soo much to listen to) is 'Let It Die' and 'Come Alive.' Just the build-ups, holy crap. Amazing songwriting. They make four minutes feel like an eternity every time.
Same man! When I hear a CD for the first time (like this one) and instantly am in love with it, I know it's good!
In fact, that's what I was listening to when I said that I was trying to do my own "custom" live setlist for the Lost Prophets.
Eh... it's OK. I think they tried to hard for the whole "epic feel" on some songs, that just end up being silly ("Erase Replace", even though I do like the song, is one of those). I think it's just them making "In Your Honor: Part 2", with the two CDs mixed into one.
