I'm not sure if this counts, but, my favorite scores come from the Halo games. Including the new one that just came out. So much wonder and brilliance.
The Halo 4 theme is awesome. On the subject of video games: Far Cry 3, Bioshock Infinite and ACII all have epic scores.
Halfway through this Oblivion soundtrack from M83 and it is awesome! http://stereogum.com/1310142/stream-m83-oblivion-soundtrack/top-stories/
Anything by John Williams & Hans Zimmer really, they're both masterminds. The Inception soundtrack was brilliant IMO. Time is absolutely fantastic.
my favorite movie 1.Star Wars 2.The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring 3.Jurassic Park 4.Back to the Future 5.The Goonies 6.The Lion King 7.Titanic
Anything by John Williams, Danny Elfman and Hans Zimmer I'm all for. At the top of my head, my favourite O.S.T's are: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by John Williams Star Wars Ep. IV A New Hope by John Williams The Dark Knight Rises by Hans Zimmer Sherlock Holmes by Hans Zimmer V for Vendetta by Dario Marianelli Mircocosmos by Bruno Coulais Batman by Danny Elfman Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Danny Elfman Planet of the Apes by Danny Elfman Casino Royale by David Arnold Batman Forever by Elliot Goldenthal
Inception. Especially "Time". That song is probably the most legendary song from a score out there. Halo soundtracks are always really good too.
Easily "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy's soundtrack. There's some really nice, meaty stuff packed on the extended "Complete Recordings" multi-disc editions released a few years ago.
For me, the holy grail of all movie soundtracks is Gladiator. I love all of Hans Zimmer's work, but this soundtrack in particular is superb. James Horner also did some really beautiful work for movies like Braveheart and Titanic
