Atticus Ross and Trent Reznor's work on The Social Network was fantastic, as was John Powell's work on the Bourne films, Hans Zimmer on Dark Knight/Inception, and John Murphy for the 28 Weeks/Days franchise.
Danny Elfman's score for Edward Scissorhands is regarded as his magnum opus by most and for good reason I believe! Although most of John Williams' music doesn't vary very much in my opinion, it all kicks arse Clint Mansell's score with Mogwai for The Fountain is one of my favourites for sure. Beautiful. Although I'm not really going to class them as awesome composers Daft Punk did a fantastic job creating an epic 8-bit electronic score for Tron Legacy. The score is more enjoyable than the movie I believe, and I quite liked the movie
It wasn't really full on electronic. Most of it is really traditional score interspersed with electro. On another note, why don't we post some of our favorite compositions besides just naming them? Here's John Williams' "Window to the Past" from Harry Potter & the PoA: This song seriously tugs at my heartstrings. So beautiful.
It's not film stuff but this is the main reason I named Gregson-Williams
I love film music, great posts guys! I recommend you one of the Brian Tyles's best songs, it's from Fast & Furious movie.
This is the only tune by AR Rahman that I REALLY like,
I've never seen the movie, but the trailer music from "The Day The Earth Stood Still" is fucking epic. Kinda Linkin Park-ish, actually.
Empty Spaces. Back on topic, I'll drop Joe Hisiashi, the man who composes for all Studio Ghibli films. And if we're talking about movie trailer music, here are a few epic ones:
E.S. Posthumus is so fucking good. Just got into them like a month ago. Antissa is probably my favorite song from them.
I like to listen to this score while walking.
For me? My favorite pieces of music from them. and for "Let Me In", Giacchino did an amazing job with the score, so I had to choose one out of random. xD
Gotta agree on Hans Zimmer. But a personal favourite like 1996_LP said: Danny Elfman. I love the dark, mysterious and completely ODD music he creates. And also since Tim Burton is my favourite director I get the best of both worlds when watching Burtons movies ^^
Hans Zimmer Steve Jablonsky Paul Linford (The one who made score for Need For Speed Most Wanted) Paul Haslinger (Death Race 1)
Clint Mansell, Trent Reznor. I dunno, usually I find film scores pretty boring, but those two make them interesting and not tedious to listen to. Hans Zimmer is pretty overrated, so is the Star Wars guy (John Williams? I don't know, I don't care)
John Murphy ('cause of the Sunshine soundtrack), James Newton Howard, and Brian Tyler (and ok, Hans Zimmer too, even though he does every popular movie soundtrack these days)
