First, I'd like to say thanks to Emotionless (Tony) for making a thread in these forums telling us about Falling Up. I notice a thread like this has been made before, but it's a month-old, not made by the same person, and there's really no sense in bumping a thread 9-pages back. About a month ago, I was told about Falling Up through here and I went to their site to listen to some songs off their player. I instantly fell in love with all 3 songs that were at that time on that player, "Broken Heart" (single), "Bittersweet" and "Places". They later added "Ambience" and it solidified my thoughts that they are the best new group of 2004. Last year, Three Days Grace broke out with their debut and it became my favorite album of the year and now this year it's Falling Up's "Crashings", which came out Feb 24. Each and every day since the release of the album, I went to Kazaa and searched profusely for someone with the full album, but seeing that they are a relatively unknown band, no one had the songs on Kazaa. I was so impatient for the full album that I bought it off Amazon on Friday after only hearing 4 songs. Last night, I finally found the album on Kazaa and I downloaded it. Let me say that it's incredible. In my opinion, every song is flawless, and it's up there with the Lostprophets' "Start Something" as my favorite album of the year. They're like a christian-rock band (i'm atheist but I still love the music) with rock and rap influences. Very Linkin Park-ish. The rap elements aren't as evident as in LP, but in songs like "Jackson 5" (bad title, great song), vocalists from Pillar, Demon Hunter and Kutless all make appearances on the track. The lyrics are incredible, the riffs are memorable and catchy, and the vocals are great. My favorite song, "Divinity", has a great start-stop chorus that's so damn great. Check them out, you won't regret it. Edit: Forgot the tracklisting. 01: Bittersweet 02: Symmetry 03: Broken Heart 04: Escalates 05: New Hope 06: The Gathering 07: Jackson 5 08: Divinity 09: Places 10: Falling In Love 11: Ambience 12: Arafax Deep
I checked out the songs on their site, and so far I like them. They're not as aggressive as I like my music to be, but they're good all the same and I've been looking for some more Christian rock artists. Thanks for pointing them out!
*Falls up* AHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I fell up once, actually. I tripped on a flight of stairs and fell up a few steps, it was quite amusing. (Mark is sending me a song by them at this moment.)
I actually checked Pillar's web site after you sent me "Jackson 5," and Pillar's vocalist isn't one of the guys. I actually think the vocalist rapping is the vocalist from 38th Parallel, but I'm not sure. Either way, the song is amazing. And I think they chose "Jackson 5" as the title simply because of the fact that there were 5 vocalists on the track.
