I just recently added a series of TV episodes to my "My Downloads" folder, and now any time I try to access it explorer says it must restart. I've scanned for adware, viruses, and defragmented my harddrive, as well as restarted my computer. Does anyone know what might be wrong?
IIRC, Windows has some kind of problem getting thumbnails from .avi's that causes it either to really lag or crash.
Well, there was a conflict with my Xvid codec and explorer.exe. Not viewing thumbnails helped, but if I clicked on a file, it crashed when it tried to show me the preview. I uninstalled xvid and fooled around with a few other things and it seems to be working now.
I'm having the same problem in a way. I downloaded Season 8 of Seinfeld. Everytime I open the folder with the episodes, it kinda crashes. But it gives me enough time to open an episode up and close it out. I find this very weird because it's never happened to me before with any other tv series i've downloaded. So far all the episodes have played fine. I did a search to and found no sign of a virus, spyware, or adware.
Tekkiji its not a virus... its mr. gates Tumbnail generation which makes the *kaka* Windows is unable to access the first sector of the avi file and consequintly cant generate a thumbnail.... thats why the error occurs
