And yet 'true' evanescence fans are crying on Amazon.com saying it sucks cause it aint pop. Fuck them.
Evanescence were never pop. They were alternative rock, more or less. If we wanted to get into semantics, we could say they were goth-tinged alternative rock. But we'll leave that to the critics and 12-year-old girls. Personally, the album's a masterpiece, in my opinion. It's their best work yet.
I've only heard a little bit, because I can't find it but my friend did. I'm not good at downloading, I like to buy. I must say that releasing CMWYS as the lead single was a terrible mistake. I don't see how anyone could listen to it and say, "Wow, thats a single".
It's like I told Derek before, I think they put out CMWYS to get the bullshit out of the way, because the rest of the album is so much more superior to that one song. It was made SPECIFICALLY to be a single. That's my theory.
But still. The singles are supposed to motivate people to buy albums. If downloading didn't exist, I wouldn't touch this album until they released something that made me want to buy it.
That's true. I don't understand the logic to it, but the rest fo the album is incredible! I have to agree with Will (which doesn't happen very often ). This is their best work yet.
The album seems okay from first listens, but I don't get why everyone is loving "Lacrymosa", it's okay I guess.
Lacrymosa honestly kinda disapointed me. I like it, but it hardly sounds as epic as the clip originally made it seem. I thought it was gonna be harder. The album is FANTASTIC though.
Just downloaded it and listening right now. It's ok, but I haven't heard all the songs yet, I'll get back when I have.
This is the first time in almost a year that downloading an album has made me actually want to buy it. I'm definitely buying it the day it comes out. It's fucking ace. Evanescence are back and even better than before. Edit— I said it was a masterpiece before, but I really listened to it this time. It's so amazing.
I have to disagree with most of you. Sorry. The majority of the songs on the album are not up to tempo with most of the songs from Fallen. My girl is an avid Evanescence fan, and she was extremely disappointed last night when she listened to it. "Call Me When You're Sober" sounds too pop, and the rest of the songs were disappointingly slow or annoyingly dull. Sorry. I'll listen to it a couple more times to see if it will catch on.
I liked the album, but one of my only problems with it is there aren't many up-tempo tracks/moments throughout. I would have liked a few more moments where they just dropped in heavy riffs Going Under style with a darker tone from Amy's vocals. That's my only real problem with the album. Amy's voice is amazing as always though I think they used voice layering/prolonging Amy's voice too much. She's got a great voice, but let the instrumentation convey some emotion at one point or another! However it is a great sophomoric effort from Evanescence. It's definitely no Fallen clone, but it serves it's purpose the best it can. Also, anyone else disappointed with the last track? Man, I was expecting an explosive ending like Fallen had where it just got a bit epic at the end. The final track on The Open Door just felt like a cliffhanger... Maybe that's just me because I was expecting some huge orchestral finish, but yeah. Beautiful album, executed beautifully but I'd wish they'd hit us with a bit more darkness at some points. Nonetheless, I was impressed.
I like it. It's a beautiful album, and the musical talent is amazing,as is Amy's voice. Only complaint would be,that i'd have liked some of the heavy guitars that Fallen at least in places, so as to add some variation from the piano, but otherwise it rocks. 8/10
You're allowed to say something "sucks", but I advise you to show some respect and post why as it states in the rules. Thank you.
