Evanescence's debut album, Fallen, was recently certified 5-times platinum. Do you guys think that Fallen will end up selling more albums than Hybrid Theory (which is currently set at 8-times platinum)?
I don't think so. My Immortal will get old soon and I don't think that "Everybody's Fool" is gonna sell that much. My Immortal is kind of like In The End for Evanescence so it already had its run.
this shows how many times the same song can be recreated over and over with different lyircs and still sell 5 million copies
Fallen is an awesome CD! I think it will eventually reach 8 Million but will be much less than the amount HT has sold by then.
please, compare "My Immortal" and "Going Under" to each other and tell me how they sound alike. You might want to listen to all of their songs before labelling them as all the same.
I don't think it'll sell more than HT. Because as more and more people buy EV. Other people end up buying HT, as well. But than again, I'm not that knowledeable. In fact, I think I spelled that wrong. How long did it take HT to be 8? And how long did it take EV to be 5? (times platinum) This will help me with my opinion.
Hybrid Theory was certified 8x platinum in April 2002. That's about a year and a half to get to 8x platinum. Fallen was just certified 5x platinum, only about a year after it's been out.
It took LP nearly 1 and a half years to sell that many. Sales didn't really pick up until In The End came out, althought the album had sold around 2-3 million after Crawling was released and died out. Evanescence had an absolute smash single from the start. BMTL was huge. GU wasn't as big but MI is their biggest success yet. They've sold 5 million since the album was released back in March of last year. But I don't think "Everybody's Fool" has the potential to make them sell another 3 million. Remember that HT sold 8 million on 3 singles, and Evanescnce has sold 5 million on 3 singles with the third single slowly dying out.
Thank you, Will and Mark. In that case, I don't think Fallen will sell more. Perhaps the chance of getting up real close to HT but not enough. That is, unless Amy is naked in the next single. I mean, no offense, but in My Immortal she moves her dress kind of down in a way that you can sort of see stuff. Not really but it probably got some people to be fans. If she was naked in the next single, LP has no chance..
That's why My Immortal got so much success! I think if they make My Last Breath as a single, then they might get a lot of success. Fallen might receive 8X, but HT will be higher by then.
How do you figure it will be higher by then? It's been 2 years since the album was certified 8x platinum. What makes you think it will suddenly sell more?

I think he means the hundred thousand copies in between 8 and 9 mil. Like, 'Hybrid Theory' may sell 8.9 copies and 'Fallen' may only sell 8.3 million. And yes, the cleavage shots in the video probably helped the video get more airtime. But of course there's not complaints from many guys and girls. It probably got them more interest, but it's not to the degree where the artist shows 99% of her body to get attention and more album sales. Hell, there was alot of cleavage in the BMTL video, but not necessarily a marketing strategy.
*cough cough* like you?
Actually, yes. I'm sorry to admit but I was losing interest but than after that video... Well, I got interested. I'm sorry if I sound like a teenie or anything but.. yeah.. Don't get me wrong, I like their music now.
