So I was just at Wal-Mart and was browsing CD'S and what CD do I see??????? THATS FUCKING RIGHT, ATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went up to the store manager and with ATS in my hands and said "See this Cd I'm holding, its due out Sept. 14th." He didnt believe me and looked it up using the UPC and sure enough....

They sold some of them too. :awesome:

I would have boughten it but it was edited and I preordered the first day anyways.

Update: I called Wb and I only talked to security (on the actual lot) and he said that it was a huge concern and to call Monday because everyone went home because its a weekend

Wow...when I worked at Target, if we sold a movie or CD before release date, we would be in BIG trouble with corporate offices and the label/studios. I remember once we accidentally sold some Hollywood movie that was in theaters for like a week and probably made about 18 dollars during that run and received some shit reviews (I don't remember the title, but think of something along the lines of From Justin to Kelly or The Hottie and the Nottie - and I will now go kill myself for knowing those titles) and a massive shitstorm rained upon the store. No one was fired (although the electronics department manager could've been) but the studio was threatening to pull all of their titles from the store and shit like that. In the end, I think the store ended up paying a fine of some sort.

Yes. Wal-Mart has decided that kids should not hear such naughty words like "fuck" and "shit" so they have taken it upon themselves to only sell censored versions of CDs. But a few aisles away from the electronics department, you can buy all the guns you want.

Just one of the many reasons to boycott Wal-Mart.

Wow. How about just not selling it to people under 15 or whatever, that means adults have some shitty clean version.

Actually in the US, there is no legal age to buy music, movies or video games. It's all voluntary and store policy. But a store can sell a copy of Straight Outta Compton, Scarface and Grand Theft Auto to a 5 year old and it is completely legal. Stores just implement their own policy. When I worked at Target, there was policy but it was never enforced.

I think the only thing you can't legally sell to minors is porn.

I guess when you're the biggest retailer with assets that exceed the GDP of 70% of the countries on this planet, you can do crap like that and get away with it.

For what it's worth a lot of stores sell big name albums before release date as soon as they get them. Not sure how often big names like Wal Mart and Target can pull it off, but a lot of smaller music stores usually do stick CD's out before release date.

As a HUGE Linkin Park fan, this really pisses me off. And I will be sure to let them know that it ruins the experience for fans when anticipating a certain date and all of a sudden its right there. There wasnt even promotion for the CD like they do with any new CD.

In Australia there are massive embargos on Games and Movies moreso on games. I work in a major shop that sells music/movies/games - Music doesnt have embargo. Its not enforceable in Australia. So to get around this record companies make sure the Album doesnt get delivered until day of release. Which sucks because people who come in first thing in the morning can't get the record yet because we havent got it. Most big releases arive day of release - smaller bands/labels get shipped mid week.
