For those of you who don't know about this film, Elysium is an upcoming sci-fi film directed by Neill Blomkamp (District 9) and starring Matt Damon, Jodie Foster and Sharlto Copley. Its easily one of my most anticipated films of the year. Here's the official plot: "In the year 2154, the very wealthy live on Elysium – a Stanford torus space habitat in Earth orbit – while the rest live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. The people of Earth are desperate to escape the planet’s crime and poverty, and they critically need the state-of-the-art medical care available on Elysium – but some in Elysium will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve their citizens’ luxurious lifestyle. The only man with the chance to bring equality to these worlds is Max Da Costa, an ordinary guy in desperate need to get to Elysium. With his life hanging in the balance, he reluctantly takes on a dangerous mission – one that pits him against Elysium’s mayor, Secretary Jessica Delacourt and her hard-line forces – but if he succeeds, he could save not only his own life, but millions of people on Earth as well." And here's the trailer: I really liked D9 and am really pumped for this. So what do you guys think?
I've been anticipating this ever since I saw District 9 back in 2009! Trailer looks epic as fuck! PS. District 9 needs more appreciation. It's one of the best/unique sci-fi movies to come out in a long time, imo.
Hi everyone, I'm extremely excited for the film, I've even create a dedicated Elysium movie website here: www.elysium2013-movie.com let me know what you think? Feel free to join the forum!
So I honestly haven't heard about this movie until I saw the TV spots while watching the Stanley Cup Playoffs/Finals. It instantly grabbed my attention. The new trailer came out today and it is absolutely awesome! I think this is Neil Blomkamp's way of saying "This is what you get for not letting me direct that HALO movie a few years back." Color me excited for this movie.
It looks great, Neil Blomkamp did a great job with District 9, and I love Matt Damon. so I'll definitely be checking this out.
Early reviews have started pouring in. It currently has a 56% on RT based on 9 reviews. I'm not one to go solely on reviews, so I'm still pretty excited. I just hope its not another "Oblivion" [Amazing visuals and nothing else, IMO]
