Check out these three gems that have made their way on to the internet. Banned by most Tomb Raider sites, they are still on youtube and thus I will share them with you all!

Early Game Test With (Later Removed) Ponytail and In-Game Sunglasses.

This is the earliest known footage to exist of Tomb Raider 1 and is assumed to have been made before Eidos' Acquisition of Core Design back in 1995 as part of a early engine test with Lara Croft in a 3D environment.

    An interesting fact:

The ponytail itself caused the game to dramatically slow down (thus the reason for the jerky footage as it has been sped up in a movie program), and caused the game to react strangely to the player. Despite Core's best attempts to have animating hair all the way back in 1995, they later decided to remove it for smooth frame rate purposes.

Also worth noticing is the different face on Lara, and non reactive enemies...who were probably put there simply as placeholders to make the game appear more "alive".

Early Gameplay Video With Cut Features and Buggy AI

This footage comes from an early beta version of the Peru levels, which featured some interesting features no longer included in the final version of the game including: Lara's diary, a flashlight and flares. Why these were cut from the game (when tr1 itself was very dark in spots) we will never know.

    And finally..the grand finale:

Original Intro FMV to Tomb Raider Made Before Eidos' Acquisition of Core Design

    Quoting from the source:

"So, 1993 arrives and a small company called Core Design is formed. Of course we already know this. We also know that in 1996 they released a groundbreaking new game -- Tomb Raider.

As you would expect there were prototypes of the game produced way before the title was eventually sold to Eidos. A lot of these things ceased to make it to the final edit of the game. These include certain main baddies. As you may know, or may not know, the original concept for TR1 didn't include Jacqueline Natla. It did however feature another evil power. A male character no less, by the name of Colonel Arthur Hamilton Graves."

So whadaya all think? Pretty interesting huh?
