Just a reminder for all the video gamers out there... E3 starts tomorrow, but Microsoft is having a conference today to unveil all their cool stuff. Expect Gears of War PC to officially be announced (even though the trailer already leaked), along with tons of 360 stuff.
Guess who's gonna have their voice and likeness lent to Assassin's Creed? http://tv.ign.com/articles/750/750843p3.html !
I have to disagree with you there, Todd. Although GTA4 will no doubt be one of the best selling titles to come out, it was not the greatest thing(s) to come out of E3 this year (at least from the press conference announcements). With the introduction of the Wii board and (although gimmicky) the Wii Zapper, these new items definitely give new potential to the gaming industry and thus (at least for me) took the cake at E3. Although I'm excited to play Mass Effect, Halo 3, GTA4, Left 4 Dead, Assassin's Creed and the plethora of other titles that'll surely leave me without cash to spare for months following, I definitely think it's the new innovations coming out of the industry that hold the highest praises. I mean can you imagine intergrading the board into a game other than just fitness and mini-games? Like, imagine playing a duck and cover shooter like Gears of War with a board where your real life shifting movements dictate how your character on screen moves. That to me is very intriguing when thinking of how the industry might be looking at new ways to play a game. I know it probably won't catch on and I honestly don't play games to get a workout, but I think it shows much more coming from the industry in terms of advancing foreword (which is what E3 was designed to do) than the software. And while on the subject, whoever was in charge of the G4 TV live feed needs to be fired. Cutting to commercials during the conference especially during game trailers was an extremely dumb move. Especially when each commercial break was like, 5 minutes long. But overall, 2007-2008 is shaping up to be one of the greatest years of recent times for gamers. My gamer within is giddy with excitement and anticipation over all the new games coming out and I just can't wait. E3 definitely encouraged me to suck it up and purchase a PS3 and also restored my faith in the Wii and Xbox 360 after having to deal with a serious drought of new, exciting titles.
