Drinking Games

    If you're like me, a drink-loving, twenty-something legend, you play drinking games.

    I remember moving to Ottawa for 4 months back in 2008 and learning a whole new set of drinking games which I brought home with me to spice up our parties.

    However, these games have grown stale after a long time of repeating the same ones over and over again. So do you have any drinking games (cards, dice, word) to share?

    I'll give an example. We play a dice game called 3-man:

    What You Need: 2 Die (Dice?)
    Learning Curve: 3 Minutes
    Severity: High

    Take one die and have each participant roll. Whoever has the highest roll goes first. If there's a tie, have those two roll again to determine who rolls the highest.

    NOTE: You do not want to go first. You'll understand...

    The first roller takes both dice and rolls them.

    If one of the dice is a 3, you're "3-man". This means, every time someone rolls a 3, you drink. The only way to get out of being "3-man" is to personally roll a 3 on one of your subsequent turns. Only one person can be 3-man at a time.
    If one of the dice is a 5, you're "5-man". See above.
    If the dice add up to 7, the player to your left drinks.
    If the dice add up to 11, the player to your right drinks.
    If you get doubles (i.e. 1+1, 2+2, 3+3, 4+4, 5+5, 6+6), you personally drink the value of one die, and give out drinks equal to the value of the other die to a player of your choosing.
    Lastly, AND THIS IS IMPORTANT, every time you drink OR every time you give out a drink, you roll the dice again.
    So basically, the only time to roll and get "out" (see: not have to make a move) is if you roll anything that adds up to 3, 4 (excluding 2+2), 5, 6 (excluding 3+3), 8 (excluding 4+4) & 10 (excluding 5+5).

    This can get super tangly if you end up as both "3-man" and "5-man". Hahaha.

    It seems kind of complicated but trust me, it takes 3 minutes to master.

    So do you have anything to share? Card games are definitely a must. I'll share another game when someone else adds one of their own.

    Nice thread ahah.

    I don't know if this game is famous abroad or not, but it's a classic there. It's called "Pyramid", and it's with cards.

    So, you put the cards on a surface, you begins with 6 cards, then 5, until 1 card, to form something like a pyramid.

    Kind of like this:
    I
    II
    IIII
    IIIIII

    Then, you give each player 2 cards (from the remaining cards which are not used for the pyramid). Each player check out his cards, and then they put them on the floor. The other players must not see your cards, so you better hide them.

    As it begins, someone turns on the first card at the bottom of the pyramid. Let's say it's an Ace of Spades. If one of the 2 cards of one of the players is also an ace, then this player can give a shot to another player he chooses. Then the player who is given the shot can either drink it or say he doesn't believe the one who said he had an Ace.

    If he says he doesn't believe the player who has given him the shot, this one has to show his ace. If he really had an ace, then the player who was given the shot has to drink twice because he didn't believe him, so 2 shots. If he didn't had an ace and was lying, he had to drink himself twice.

    Next turn, same thing. You turns on the next card, and if someone has it, he can gives a shot to someone else.

    First pyramid floor, you give 1 shot when you have the card (or if you don't have it, but you're risking drinking twice if the other player discovers you're lying). Second floor, 2 shots. And so on. At the top of the pyramid, the one who is given the shot have to drink an entire glass.

    Other version: you reverse it. First floor, there is one card. Final floor, there is much more, so much more entire glass to drink :drunk:

    That's it. Not sure if I'm clear though, it was not that easy to explain this in English :lol:

    We play a version of that as well! Only we call it Ride The Bus. The regular version is straight up: if you have the card, you show it. No lying or deception involved. But when we want to involve lying/bluffing, we call it Ride The Bus: Bullshit. Simply put, if you think someone is lying, call "Bullshit!" and the same rules apply as in your game.

    Slight other differences: We only use 5 layers, and we deal the entire rest of the deck out to everyone instead of two cards.

    Now here's the twist: When the pyramid is complete and all the cards have been given out, all players must tally up the value of the cards they did NOT give out. Whoever has the highest number has to "Ride The Bus", which is this:

    Two lines of four cards are laid face-up on the table. This person must go card by card and guess if the next card in the deck is "higher" or "lower" than the specific card on the table. They must go through all 8 cards, without making a mistake, to get through the game. If they fuck up, they drink, and they have to go back to the first card. I've seen people go through 3 decks of cards on this game before. It can get pretty intense!

    My friend claims he invented this game, and I haven't seen it before, so I let him take credit for it. It's called 'Crazy Train'

    What you need: A deck of cards.

    Step 1 - Shuffle well.

    Step 2 - Lay them out in the following formation

    7....[]
    6...[][]
    5..[][][]
    4.[][][][]
    3..[][][]
    2...[][]
    1....[]

    Step 3 - Choose one person to go first. The aim of this game is to get from one side to the other. You do this by flipping a card on each 'level'. If you get a K,Q,J or an Ace, you go back to level one, replace the flipped cards with new cards from the rest of the deck and start again. Now here are the penalties:

    Flip a Jack - one swig
    Flip a Queen - two swigs
    Flip a King - three swigs
    Flip an Ace - four swigs

    You have to get from Level 1 to Level 7 by picking a path. If you succeed, everyone else playing sculls their drink. If the deck of cards finishes before you reach the end, you scull your drink.

    Step 4 - Next person lines up to ride the crazy train.

    I know this too! But we use it as a different game than the other. Pretty intense, indeed :lol:
