I've noticed lately that many people whether it be rappers, bands, dancers etc. devote their entire lives into whatever art they do but never have a backup plan. I mean some people get lucky and just grab the fame but there are countless amounts of people who fall on their face and can't do anything because they weren't able to achieve their dream and didn't have a back up plan. I rap and produce myself and devote a lot of time to trying to get better at it but I always have my education to fall back on if all else doesn't go well, but I've seen many of my friends fall down and realize they never even finished High School. There is a producer I worked with for a couple tracks who is completely broke and relies on things like focus groups and little shows here and there and playing in the subways to make a living. He’s great at what he does but because he had nothing to fall back on or even just have something as a means to support himself while he tries to get some exposure, he’s left with almost nothing and is basically just trying to get by on these focus groups and subway shows and just recording tracks for artists every once in a while. So what do you guys think does fame ruin the lives of the youth?
You've got to dream, indeed. And if you don't become famous by practicising your artform you can still live from it... It might be wrong to just want to become famous, most people who dance, are in a band,... do it because they love it, anyways.
I doubt anyone wants to just become famous anyway. I think it's usually a desire to be make a living out of what you love doing.
Well, I itend to be a millionaire in 2 years time and it looks likely to happen. No matter what I'm not gonna stop making music with my band.
fame doesn't ruin the lives of youth. lack of thoughtful and realistic planning, on the other hand ...
Nightmares=bad? But in all seriousness, I think people should be chasing their dreams. Of course they'll need a backup plan. It's just common sense that you have something to fall back on. It's like my friend Connor. He's a simply amazing guitarist but he doesn't wanna go into a serious band yet because he's still in education and wants to have a career just in case his music doesn't work out for him. One thing I hate to see though is people saying that their dreams of being rockstars or actors etc. won't come true. My philosophy is that if you really want something, you've got to go out there and get it.
I agree yes people should always chase after their dreams but it seems to me that more and more people are just not making realistic goals and up not really being able to live up to their dreams, and I strongly beleive that more and more people are just not thinking very well about their future.
Having a dream is something of great importance! If you don't have a goal, then you get lost and misguided.. Dream on!
