    MetalReview's Review (5/6)

This looks like its gonna be one of their best albums, and the reviewer even says it has 'nu-metal' influences!

I read it; very cool. I look forward to this album when I have the money to buy it. :p

I wonder why they went a bit nu-metal in some songs?

Apparently, there are some really heavy riffage and James even raps one part, but they are all very well done! :D AYMK, Metallica and Iron Maiden were huge influences but John Petrucci also said he's gotten into Mudvayne and that they influenced the album.

Apparently its one of the heaviest, most complex, and powerful Dream Theater albums ever! Many people are already hailing it their favourite. I'm getting it on Thursday, as it is the closest day I can get, because the closest CD store is a half-hour away!

I am SO pumped though! :shifty:

I really want to hear this "rapping" they speak of. :p Mudayne; not a bad choice.

Whoo for heavy and complex! ^_^

Yeah, apparently its 'rap-like' but still sounds good. On Dt.net there is almost no negative comments at all about the album, I'm gonna try to find more reviews online and post em. And also I'll do my own once I get it this week! :shifty:

No way, man! Those rumours are FALSE! But their contract with Elektra ends after this album....

Go here to download the full version of 'This Dying Soul': www.metalreview.com. Look at the bottom right-hand side of the home page for 'MP3War' and then the album cover.

Its 15 megs (the songs over 11 mins) so if you have a fast comp you can do it!

EDIT: Remember to Tell me what you think, Avenger!

Wow, new Dream Theater is awesome, I think I might go check it out. The guitar is awesome, and as usual Portnoy is off the hook.

WOW! I just learned that dream theater took THREE WEEKS to WRITE the album!!! Thats phenomenal especially considering it will be one of their best (they started writing it in March, had a TOUR over the summer and mixed it by the end of September!)

And this CD is 70 minutes long! (w00t)

    Amazing Review (5 Stars)

    I like this quote:
"Now, I’m a drummer, so I am not going to try to explain what happens next. All I know is that from what I’ve heard said by guitarists and based on my own limited knowledge of the field…what Petrucci now does is virtually impossible. Don’t quote me on that, as I may be wrong. But…I am aghast. Curious? Go to 8:37 in the song and listen up..."

    Washington Post Review

"Dream Theater has just slapped Metallica with some "St. Anger" management. It has slain Slayer. And left Pantera panting. Crushingly heavy and staggeringly complex, "Train of Thought" will make headbangers lie down on the tracks and sacrifice themselves to the gods of metal. This is the Dream Theater we've dreamed of."

Just downloaded the album and I must say: WOW!

This is the first Dream Theatre I've heard and it certainly won't be the last.

HEHE! I told ya they rock!!! This will probably be your fav. album, they are usually not as heavy. I suggest that you download some of their earlier stuff: 'Images & Words' and "Awake'.

Thats really good that you like them. They'll be making a stop in Canada (Toronto for sure) in their next tour and I haven't seen them yet. Can't wait!
