In a recent interview, Mike Portnoy announced that the band will go to write their new album after their tour with Yes, which ends in September.

This means we can expect another album by Summer 2005 (w00t)

Kickass! Dream Theater is great. No flaws in their ability.

Indeed, but after ToT I want a tighter, more restrained album this time around ;) And more John Myung, I'd like more of his input and some of his awesome lyrics B)

I wish Kevin Moore returned for just one song. DT are amazing, but Kevin is probably the best keyboardist of our epoch.

I feel the same way sometimes, but Kevin Moore, for some reason, won't do that or even play with the band live. He has been asked on a few occasions to play his piece he wrote for the band, "Space Dye Vest", live for the first and only time (they've never played it live since he didn't tour with the band after recording Awake). He has always declined. And yes, I agree, Kevin Moore is one of the greatest keyboardists of our time, in my top 5 with Jon Lord, Rick Wakeman, Ray Manzerek, Keith Emerson and Jordan Rudess.

The band is still going strong though, so I'm still really excited about their new album! :teehee:

I think their vocalist really improved in Train of thought, but he needs to write better lyrics this time, maybe a concept album would be good, just like Scenes from a memory.

Agreed with LaBries voice, it got way better. And I liked the lyrics he wrote for Vacant, but Portnoy (who did lyrics for This Dying Soul and Honour thy Father) has to either pick it up or have LaBrie do more, or have Myung/Rudess to contribute, because his lyrics sucked...

You never know what will come outta these guys though.

Agreed. "Vacant" was the best song lyrically on ToT.

Can't wait for the new stuff.
