each to their own i suppose - but i must dissagree. [/b][/quote] Totally disagree all music kinds have there own type of lyrics that there aren't alle emotinall doesn't mean they aren't good
... Ok, I'm gonna make this clear. I do not like rap or hip-hop. I don't understand it, I don't get it. But, I don't think that it's appropriate to call them mentally challenged. Most rappers probably are smart, though they don't show it in their grammar. Secondly, I don't think that they're attempting to write poetry really. I doubt that their goal in writing this music is to write something to publish in a book, and have it sit on a library shelf next to Edgar Allen Poe. I'm guessing that they write this music to express themselves, just like the bands that you like express themselves. Thirdly, if I were you, I would definitely change that R-word in your post. I don't appreciate it personally, and the LPA doesn't take that stuff lightly.
At first I totally hated the idea.....but then I heard clips of Lying From You/Dirt Off Your Shoulders and Numb/Encore and thougt....hey this could be really great. Unfortunately, other then Jigga What/ Faint.....those were the only real good songs. The other songs didnt sound like LP and Jay-Z worked with them much at all. I was excited to hear what Papercut/Big Pimpin was gonna sound like......but all it had was LP rapping over it for less then a minute and then it was pure Jay-Z. I know it only took 4 days.....but if your gonna make something when you have a rare opurtunity like this......make something thats better then ok. If the mash-ups were 'mashed-up' a little bit better and if LP and Jay-z had recorded a few new exclusive tracks together....that would have been awesome. But it felt too much like a quick buck effort. Personally....I think LP and Jay-Z should have just done the performance for MTV and never had bothered making a studio version of the songs.
I honestly dont think Collision Course is bad. I'm usually not one for the idea of LP and Jay Z together but once i heard Numb/Encore i gave it a chance and it grew on me. There are a few i didnt go for such as Izzo/In The End now that just doesn't work together in my opinion. It goes to show you how far LP is willing to go make a new and different album. They have proven their creativity and their will to blend different types of music. In my opinion it gets a 3/5
Totally agree with what you posted. I remember when my ssister told me about Collision Course, I was totally against it and I really hated the idea. Because generally, I hate hip-hop and rap, and it just seemed like a horrible idea. But when I listened to numb/encore, I was like "This sounds really cool" and it's my fav track on the album. Dirt of your shoulders/Lying from you is cool. But I don't like the rest. I have the album because I support LP and I would have gotten it no matter what the out come. But generally, I don't like the album.
to me its allright i like encore/numb and the dirt off your shoulder one but the rest arent that good becuase of jay-z i guess, but i got mine free so i didnt lose anything
I think the only decent songs on it were '99 problems'...and...Ah, that was the only good one! Mike's mcing was just really good.
the thing with collision course is that it's not nu metal.the songs are good but they 're not the style we like.it's something different...
the album was terrible.......... chester was shutted up by jayz soit was more like a jayz album rather than linkin park's. i hope their next album will be better
Well it isn't all about Linkin Park. This isn't an exclusive LP album, it's Jay-Z as well. A lot of LP Fans I know don't realize that, it's also about Jay-Z. Which makes it great, as it removes a lot of the crappy beats from the Black Album and lays down tight LP beats. To those who disagree with the lyrics that Jay-Z's songs added to LP songs, DEAL WITH IT. It's called a MASH-UP for a reason, two totally disparate songs mashed together to create a new animal. Changing lyrics to fit to one another is against what the culture is all about. If anyone has heard songs like Nine Inch Nails/Beatles - I Want To F*** (Over Me) (which is, incidentally Closer mashed with I believe the song is Over Me I guess) or LP/Britney Spears - Faint/Toxic know that it's all about the general feel of the music and realizing that these two songs have been melded together into something that (usually works).
I don't like every single track on there, but that's probably coz i dont really listen to hip-hop anymore (i did when i was a little younger back in the Eminem/Dr Dre days). I like Numb/Encore and 99 Problems/Points/One Step, they go well together. It does help that the mash-up is with LP (their cool riffs etc) and that i had liked 99 Problems when Jay relased it as a single on his own. On paper the whole idea sounds a little crazy perhaps, but in practice (at least in my humble opinon) it does work.
I think the songs are all right, but I'd probably tolerate it a lot less if it wasn't Linkin Park, I won't be buying the album any time soon...
I actually like it. I'm not much of a hip-hop-rap fan, but my little brother is and he was the one that actually pointed out that LP was doing a CD with Jay-Z. He wont admit this, but LP is the only band he'll listen to outside of his usual stuff. Anyway, I personally think LP has the right to take their time with a new album. any band does. Its hard work to come up with new songs and music/beats for them. You can't really expect someone to just pull an album out of their ass for the sake of not upsetting the fans. I myself can live with what I have now (HT, M, CC, LIT, ReA) and just wait patiently for the next album. *shrugs* It's been said already, but everyone has their own opinion and their own level of patience. ~*Silver
I liked Numb / Encore ... a hell of a lot of ppl didnt .. dunno y ... i thought it was good... got the album cos I thought it would be good .... didnt like it too much after hearing all of it .... decided to keep it cos well its Linkin park ... Now when I look back on all of it its kinda an ok album .. i guess i grew to like it
what the crap is wrong with collision course? it is the best mash-up album i have ever heard! actually, make that the only mash-up album!
Hahaha WRONG. Check out The Grey Album by DangerMouse. it's Jay-Z's Black Album and The Beatles' White Album, which actually brought the whole Mash-Up craze to light. They could have done a much better job on the instrumentals in CC.
